Kudos to Rick Albin and WOOD-TV

Unread post by MWmetalhead »

I thought Albin did about as good of a job as possible with tonight's U.S. Senate candidate debate. Rogers and El-Sayed repeatedly took off the proverbial gloves, there were certainly fireworks, yet Albin somehow prevented the affair from completely spiraling out of control.

The questions that were posed all pertained to matters of significant importance. I thought WOOD-TV's staff did a very good job curating questions and content.

I watched the whole thing, and I have to agree.

I'm also disappointed in the 2 choices we have for governor.

As a side note, I guess I just haven't seen him on TV in a long time, but it caught me off-guard just how much age has caught up to Rick Albin.

You don't like Mike Rogers? He seems just your type.

Both candidates had their canned answers. But Rogers seemed way less skilled at knowing how to use them.

And Rogers was completely incompetent at responding to and taking advantage of some of El-Sayed's weaknesses.

What was so hard about answering the question Israel or Iran? Israel is democracy and doesn't have stated death wish on other countries.

We certainly can debate if their responses have went too far, but they are certainly not spreading terrorism through proxies like Iran does.

Easy answer: Israel is a better nation than Iran.

This was easily El-Sayed's weakest answer. Calling it some kind of "hypothetical." There was nothing hypothetical about the question. Israel exists. Iran exists. Which country is the biggest threat? Of course though, he can't acknowledge that Iran is any kind of significant threat because the entire underlying foundation of his anti-war position is that Iran is not a threat. He did eventually try to thread the needle and said something along the lines of Iran and Israel each pose different types of threats, Israel's threat being that of drawing us into a war. Which was a ridiculously convoluted answer.

Israel and Iran are equal threats, but nobody wants to have that conversation.

Absolutely. Would our weapons cache be depleted if it weren't for Israel?

Ben Net has destabilized the Middle East from a mostly peaceful existence and look, crude jump up again yesterday. Iran was compliant to the negotiated settlement and who came along to fuck it all up?

Bingo! :hat
I think it's fair to say that Abdul figures ANY American involvement in the region is a no-win proposition and isn't worth further American blood or treasure.

I watched the debate on NewsNation; I agree, Albin did a fine job and moved things along in an expedient manner.

Rogers trying to take a responsive jab at El-Sayed's owning of a MUTUAL FUND which has A.I. and data center companies in its portfolio was weak, weak, weak. :rolleyes

So we're just going to completely ignore the attacks of October 7, 2023?

Anybody who argues that it is Israel who has destabilized the Middle East must also give a free pass to the Muslim terrorists who live in and perpetually terrorize that region.

If you want to argue that Israel's response was disproportionate, that's one thing (I would disagree, but at least there's a debate to be had there). But to outright suggest that it is Israel that is ultimately responsible for the instability in that part of the world is utter insanity to me.
