I wouldn’t be opposed to the police department having footage for 30 days and it goes poof if it’s housed on their property and only their property with no Internet connection. It sounds to me like flock sells them a product (the cameras and software) and stores the information too. Once they sell the product they should have a minimal role in its use not some subscription where they serve as gatekeeper.

With Apple Pay, I haven't used a physical credit card in ~2 years now... I'd have to freeze my phone!

The point being, it takes SOME degree of effort to free up the card. You're not just carrying it around with you everywhere you go.
