Advertising and translators will probably be the toughest challenges for this project. I have a few advertisers lined up already, and I'm working with Sima to get a sales crew together for all the stations, not just my two. I do plan on looking out for an available translator and even getting in touch with some of the bigger FMs to maybe lease out an HD subchannel.edj wrote: ↑Fri Aug 07, 2026 7:10 am I was certain it was you and you’d chime in with details.
The changes to WPON make sense. Still brings in revenue from the brokered shows.
WCXI and WCAR, certainly it’s an upgrade to the formats and there was a large overlap between the latter and WSDS signal wise. Have you planned on how you will get advertising? Shooting for an FM translator? That’ll be the real issue to making these stations stick around. It’s a tough business especially on AM.
Will there be deeper cuts thrown in once in a while?
This could be the final nail on the coffin for CKWW’s minuscule audience.
I am a firm believer in "oh wow" music. Favorites, rarities, and everything in-between (if you catch my drift.) Many stations don't believe in it, but ours will. In the case of WCAR, it's going to be a lot like WPON but with a ton more structure. WCXI is just going to be my dream classic hits station, a good balance of hits and flips without running certain songs into the ground and playing the same junk every day (like a certain FM)
I 100% expect CKWW to make a move or two when we launch. They already took a couple notes from WPON when we started moving the music forward. When they switched to a more "classic hits" format after the CINA takeover, Detroit (and Windsor) have lacked a good oldies station. Will they go back? Maybe. I am all in for some friendly competition if they do. We'll see what happens there....
