The newscasts are unwatchable. It’s like amateur hour. Maybe CBS realizes it’s a lost cause? Below are the BIG issues.
Jennifer Lyons as regional GM makes no sense.
CBS Chicago is dead last in the Chicago market. The ratings worsened after she took over there and made talent changes. She’s never had to fix a broken station. She came from WGN which like WDIV & FOX 2 are automatically number one stations.
Kennan Oliphant is now running the newsroom. So you poach the guy from the #3 station to fix the #4 station.
Paul Pytlowany and Lisa Palmer drove the place into the ground. They had no experience in building / running a newsroom. They’re useless and clueless. Palmer has had several people report her to HR. Pytlowany only shines when he’s running a camera.
Managing Editor does not perform the duties that role requires. He spends too much time working the newsroom like a ships Cruise Director just mingling with people and raising his voice when he’s angry
Amyre Makupson makes sure everyone knows who her mom is. She also has gotten in trouble for gas lighting situations. She also likes to self-promote herself on this board. She’s more concerned landing an anchor role than anything.
Producers and Reporters are all inexperienced and need their hands held.
Rachel Hopmayer is awful as a sports reporter. Again another Pytlowany and Palmer hire.
Anchors need an overhaul except for Shaina Humphries. The same with the weather team.
The AM show, where the money is made is awful. All they do is toss to CBS pieces and the chemistry is weird. The EP was removed because of reported issues with AM producers. He also has a love of sending out newsroom emails criticizing the product and individuals.
Sometime's the show was getting hash marks in the HH and Demos.
You can shuffle the deck chairs all you want on the Titanic but it’s still going down.
