No. It will be 2-3 after all the Detroit returns come in Wednesday night. El Sayed will have a 7-8% lead before Detroit is counted then slip back.

Governor(R):
I expect James 45, Johnson 35, Cox 15, others 5%.

Governor(Dem):
Benson 60
Swanson 40

Three Dem primary polls taken in recent days all show El-Sayed with a big lead over Stevens.

I will vote for him in the general… if he loses by less than 5 I will be shocked. Frankly the Democrats blew it with their slate of candidates overall. Neither of the front runners are very impressive and McMorrow didn’t take off despite her seemingly rising stock in the party. It kind of reminds me of the time they managed to nominate Virg Bernero for governor and Snyder cleaned his clock.

No, I am saying he wins by 2-3%. Also, I would argue that El Sayed is a better candidate than Elissa Slotkin.

In November or right now? I’m taking November. Polling backs that up at the moment.

Big turn out today at my precinct, rivaling Presidential election turn out. Pete Buttigieg was 3 people ahead of me with his husband. It was a party...

Excellent call on the Dem Senate race!! That margin is much closer than I expected.

You were quite close on the Repub gubernatorial race, too.

Perry underperformed in west Michigan but did much better up north. Benson is going to have to keep Macomb County within a 10% margin to win. If I were her, I would be hitting central and west Michigan hard.

More votes often is better for Democrats
Michigan set a new voter turnout record for an August primary election last week, with more than 2.5 million Michiganders casting ballots. The strong numbers were buoyed in part by robust turnout in northwest Lower Michigan counties, four of which ranked in the top 10 for the entire state.

Based on preliminary voter numbers from the Secretary of State’s office, the total number of ballots cast for last week’s primary was 2,571,933, or 30.7 percent of registered voters. It’s the highest number of voters ever for a Michigan August primary, handily beating the previous record of 2,520,850, from 2020.

Even more impressive, at least for northern Michigan, might be the performance of the counties in the Grand Traverse region. Leelanau County ranked number 1 of all Michigan counties in terms of voter turnout, with 10,523 ballots cast out of 22,027 registered voters, good for a 47.8 percent turnout. Benzie County came in second, with a 42.3 percent turnout (7,246 ballots cast, out of 17,135 registered voters), while Antrim County finish sixth (36.6 percent voter turnout) and Grand Traverse County ninth (30,806 votes cast out of 84,767 registered voters, for a 36.3 percent turnout).
