The big question is what kind of margins Stevens can run in Oakland County. Will McMorrow eat into her totals there? Then, you have Grand Rapids area. What happens? Do Swanson voters help Genessee County go for Abdul? Can Abdul do well in northern Michigan? Will his rural town halls pay off? Stevens is going to have to break even in Detroit proper. She is going to have to win Oakland by 20 points. Abdul needs to win Washtenaw, Ingham, Genessee, and Macomb Counties.

No. He likes to go by Abdul. I don't see the big deal. You have an obsession with hating this guy. It's so funny, yet sad to see MAGA and diet MAGA crash out over a little splash of Democratic socialism. The establishment has had this seat for years and done fuck all. People are wanting change. The "vote blue no matter who" crowd is mad. Looks like this race will show how hypocritical that whole campaign slogan was if Abdul can win.

The problem is that he is almost certainly an underdog to start the general should he beat Stevens.MotorCityRadioFreak wrote: ↑Thu Jul 30, 2026 9:06 pm No. He likes to go by Abdul. Not with impending rising gas prices around $7 an gallon and food scarcity. I like Abdul by two tuddies. I even like Stevens by 7 if she wins. The winner of this primary will be the next Senator of this state.Rate This wrote: ↑Fri Jul 31, 2026 12:14 amThe problem is that he is almost certainly an underdog to start the general should he beat Stevens.MotorCityRadioFreak wrote: ↑Thu Jul 30, 2026 9:06 pm No. He likes to go by Abdul. Should that pan out I’m with you. But oil prices have been extremely stubbornly low. They tank every time someone mentions a peace deal or peace talks. If they get to $150-200 a barrel it’s game over. As for food scarcity I’m not sure we are there yet.MotorCityRadioFreak wrote: ↑Fri Jul 31, 2026 1:36 amNot with impending rising gas prices around $7 an gallon and food scarcity. The reason why gas hasn't gone up further is the United States along with other countries have been flooding strategic petroluem reseserves. The reserves are near historc lows. Pay the piper is coming very soon whether it's refiners maintenances, hurricanes or continued closing of the strait. The countries can't keep releasing the PSR.

Oil also fell about $50 a barrel when the ceasefire was announced. That had A LOT to do with it.NewzKiller wrote: ↑Fri Jul 31, 2026 11:01 am The reason why gas hasn't gone up further is the United States along with other countries have been flooding strategic petroluem reseserves. A social media influencer chased Stevens out of a rally yesterday...
TRAVERSE CITY — Democratic Primary candidate Haley Stevens left her rally in Traverse City after social media influencer and political activist Walter Masterson loudly questioned her association with the American Israeli Public Affairs Committee, also known as AIPAC.
Stevens was talking to locals and community members when the influencer, with more than 5 million followers on TikTok and Instagram, showed up and boisterously interrogated the U.S. Senate candidate about her campaign funding.

“Haley Stevens takes $46 million dollars in PAC money,” Masterson said. “That’s the kind of small-town values Michiganders love.”
The current Michigan 11th District representative was escorted to her car by her campaign staff and swiftly left the scene, while Masterson stayed outside the car to shout about AIPAC.
The rally was one of Stevens last stops before Tuesday’s primary election against Abdul El-Sayed, a 41-year-old epidemiologist from Rochester Hills, and was attended by about 40 people.
The event at Right Brain Brewery was hosted with support from the Grand Traverse Democratic Party.

Re: 2026 Michigan Governor And Senate Polling Thread
El-Sayed is the clear frontrunner in the Dem primary for Senate at this point.
A Stevens victory would be considered a moderate upset. She has looked frazzled on the campaign trail at times.
I'm not a big El-Sayed fan. He has a snake oil salesman persona. Something about him seems phony. That said, he's run a better campaign than Stevens for sure. She ran such a good campaign when she first got elected to the U.S. House that I was expecting a repeat this time. I was mistaken.

I think she should of just ran ads patting herself on the back telling everyone how good of a job she did as a rep.MWmetalhead wrote: ↑Sat Aug 01, 2026 12:46 pm I'm not a big El-Sayed fan. I've never felt that attack ads are more effective than just bragging on what you've done, what you plan to do, and just ignore what your opponent is saying about you. The ads against El-Sayad seem to have a tone of desperation lately. Not a good thing.
And now she's got ads saying "Don't make fun of the way I talk". What's up with that? I agree seems he is going to be the Democratic nominee.
