Trump is building a permission structure to deport anyone he doesn’t like, whether they be citizens or not. This is all a prelude to future arrests and illegal detainments. See the whole picture.
NEVER EVER COMPLY TO PLEASE FASCISTS. And Michigan did just that. Anything with their name on it as tainted. And I say the same for any university who does the same.
Trump is a threat to anyone who is not a straight white cis male.
They/them, non-binary and proud.
NEVER EVER COMPLY WITH FASCISM!!!
The right needs to stop worry about what’s between people’s legs. Instead, they should focus on what’s between their ears.
Audacity sucks.

On paper it isn’t. The rubber meets the road when the reality sinks in tbat they don’t have any intentions of being fair and equitable to anyone who isn’t white or servicing their agenda somehow. So while the idea sounds “like common sense” the reality is they are doing these things for slimeball reasons in service of an agenda based on fear of some other group taking away their power center.Joshua Doore wrote: ↑Fri Mar 28, 2025 11:58 pm Remind me again why making decisions based on race is a good idea.

No. I mean the idea of eliminating DEI would be fine if they had some sort of come as you are intentions behind it Ala Star Trek or something where race isn't a thing. Trump and company want to party like it's 1950 and race is THE THING in society with an interest in keeping ahold of their power center which is naturally fading away. Many MAGA ideas would be great in the hands of a good person. Thats why it gets the rubes excited. Trump and his band of merry white men are NOT, I repeat, NOT good people.Joshua Doore wrote: ↑Sat Mar 29, 2025 8:33 amAnd I get that. 100%. I think things like DEI have very good intentions behind them, but often fails because power is given to whoever is the loudest. Or whoever is elected president.Rate This wrote: ↑Sat Mar 29, 2025 8:13 amOn paper it isn’t. Now this is how you respond to a lunatic.. I was hoping UofM had the nuts...
Harvard University said on Monday that it had rejected policy changes requested by the Trump administration that would have placed “unprecedented” demands on the institution, setting up a showdown between the administration and the nation’s wealthiest university.
A letter to Harvard from the Trump administration on Friday demanded that the university reduce the power of students and faculty members over the university’s affairs; report foreign students who commit conduct violations immediately to federal authorities; and bring in an outside party to ensure that each academic department is “viewpoint diverse,” among other steps.
“No government — regardless of which party is in power — should dictate what private universities can teach, whom they can admit and hire, and which areas of study and inquiry they can pursue,” said Alan Garber, Harvard’s president, in a statement to the university on Monday.
Lawyers for Harvard said in response to the administration’s letter that the university “is not prepared to agree to demands that go beyond the lawful authority of this or any administration.”

There is a Big Ten alliance growing. Hopefully Michigan will join.

It seems the faculty are not accepting the way administration "expertly" negotiated with Trump.
ANN ARBOR, MI - University of Michigan faculty held a special meeting Thursday, sharing concerns for the future of higher education due to the recent moves in response to the Trump administration.
Nearly 150 members of the University of Michigan Faculty Senate, as well as about 1,000 over Zoom, met at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, April 17, at the Alexander G. Ruthven Building, 1109 Geddes Ave.
The central faculty governance that represents about 7,600 faculty members mulled many topics, largely demanded university leaders to commit to recently shuttered diversity programs as well as international students that recently had visas revoked.

It's legal to ask race and gender information on a University job application or student enrollment application.
So I don't understand why a University full of "smart" people can't practice DEI without having a department full of DEI employees collecting paychecks.
Just do an end around the Trump ruling .
And to be clear I am not a fan of DEI to the extent it hires or accepts less qualified candidates over more qualified candidates based on a DEI box.

Except that it doesn’t do that. This was Charlie Kirk’s infamous argument about being worried about seeing a black person flying the plane he was on and them being unqualified and only there because they are black.craig11152 wrote: ↑Fri Apr 18, 2025 10:02 am It's legal to ask race and gender information on a University job application or student enrollment application.

You can’t scale that up much farther than a really basic job before it would become far too dangerous to be practical. That’s why it doesn’t happen.

Did MLive report this situation inaccurately or is it just that you are happy with how this was handled and choose to discount the facility?

I'm not sure which facility you're talking about, but construction is booming in Ann Arbor.

I can't always control the old autocorrect, but replace that with Faculty and what's your thought? As an Alumni, are you happy the University choose Trump over the students and faculty?
