Got a Levin's Furniture nearby? The TV spots - for over 20 years - done by Steve Kamer. He voices a lot of TV affiliates as well as radio. He's on a lot of NT and Sports stations.

As much as I would love a Classic Hits station with a bigger playlist, everything that was a hit then isn't a hit now. Westwood One and Local Radio Networks both still do a better job than WOMC of widening up their playlists a bit while not straying too far from the "safe base."

Here's a sample hour on LRN, which is used in Michigan on K107.3 (Flint) and 98.3 WLCS (Muskegon).

Journey - Wheel in the Sky
Proclaimers - I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles)
Bob Seger - Old Time Rock 'n' Roll
Expose - Seasons Change
Police - King of Pain
Rod Stewart - Tonight's the Night (Gonna Be Alright)
Huey Lewis & The News - Hip to Be Square
Toto - Africa
Kool & The Gang - Fresh
Jimmy Cliff - I Can See Clearly Now
Queen - Bohemian Rhapsody
Gloria Estefan - Anything for You
Fleetwood Mac - Hold Me

And this is Westwood One's, which is heard on 99.9 The Wave up north. It's a bit tighter but still better than OMC's.

Billy Idol - Mony Mony
Cyndi Lauper - True Colors
Bon Jovi - Livin' on a Prayer
Big Mountain - Baby I Love Your Way
Culture Club - Karma Chameleon
Bryan Adams - Run to You
Orleans - Still the One
INXS - Need You Tonight
Go-Go's - We Got the Beat
Olivia Newton-John - Magic

I think Kamer is also the voice of 98.3 Nash Icon Monroe/Toledo.

That is correct. Nationally, he is probably best known as the V/O guy for Inside Edition.

Kamer had a syndicated interview show in the mid-'80s called "American Focus" that was carried on WWJ (according to a trade ad in Radio & Records from 1986). Very diverse station list mentioned in the ad, ranging from WTIC-FM Hartford (CHR) to Q95 Indy (AOR) to KVIL Dallas (AC) to full-service outlets like KIRO Seattle and WHO Des Moines.

Wow now THIS sounds like a radio station.
I'll make a scoped aircheck

This sounds so great. I love Dave Fuller. But I really love all of the promos at this time. The jingles, made to sound retro. It was a great era of the station.

In the latest promo touting music of the 70s, 80s and 90s, WOMC’s 70s reference is “Live and Let Die” by GNR (!), not Wings…. :rollin

Or how about:
"It's the 90s at 9"
*plays shitty 2008 Coldplay song*

What's even the point of this block? It lasts for 4 songs, and usually only 2 of the songs are actually from the 90s.

Agreed 100 percent. Everyone involved with programming there seems complacent. Too much sloppiness occurring. Look how long the audio disturbances were occurring before repairs were made. It took damn near 18 months!! Completely unacceptable for a top 20 market FM station.

A competing classic hits or variety hits station sure would be nice. No, the crappy Windsor station on the ancient modulation band does not qualify, for those wondering.

105.1, right next door to 104.3, would be a good place to try such a format. Beasley owns Variety Hits 95.7 Ben FM in Philly, and that station is a frequent top 5 performer in Adults 25 to 54. In Philly, Beasley has rock, classic rock, variety hits, country and sports on FM.

The Bounce is starting to fade. WDMK at 105.9 hasn't been a good ratings performer for years. Merge the two stations onto 105.9 and see what happens.

LOL, it does for me, although I understand the majority of the market isn't with me on this. Fine with me. I'm 40 and I haven't touched WOMC in years, and 580 has been my go-to for a long time. But I understand this thread is about how bad WOMC is, so carry on.

Are you referring to Cool FM?
Josh I love learning all those can-con hits. Wish it had a good signal

They should add Melissa Etheridge.
"Come to My Window" or "I'm The Only One".

Big hits in the mid 90s.

Also "Kiss From a Rose" by Seal is somehow still not playing, and Sheryl Crow's "All I Wanna Do".
These were some of the biggest and most played songs of the decade

Nope. AM580.

Cool FM has a terrible signal in my area, plays somewhat too much Cancon for my liking, and plays almost zero non-rock product. It can be enjoyable for brief listens if I'm on the east side and that's about it.

Tonight's 90s at 9 was the funniest yet. Lasted for 5 songs. Only 1 of those songs was actually from the 90s. Walking in Memphis.

When they were doing the all 80s lunch before, there was a similar issue with 90s music playing. Celine Dion, Ace of Base, Sheryl Crow.

It's not even complacency anymore. Just total incompetence.

A little reality here: Which station has a current of 7.0 and which has 9.1? Which has a cume of 695,400 and which has 1,044,200? It's like Vernor's feeling threatened by Coke.
