WOMC feels threatened by WNIC
And instead of actually making a good playlist of 70-90s music, they are playing Adele and Bruno Mars and Evanescence.
This is starting to sound like Fake Wheels, who thinks the Jimi Hendrix and Doors loving boomers want to hear "Wake Me Up Inside" right after "Purple Haze".

Re: WOMC feels threatened by WNIC
I never thought it would get to a point where I’d take WNIC over WOMC. I guess WOMC wanted to shake up its 225-song overplayed playlist. I’ll bet the new list is still ridiculously small.

Re: WOMC feels threatened by WNIC
I always thought post-2010 WNIC had terrible imaging and bizarre segues too weird for even my personal playlist standards (The Marcels' Blue Moon followed by Bedrock by Young Money).
But lately WOMC has horrible jingles and their playlist feels like it has 100 songs. Even Beau's show feels like he is on auto pilot now. There's been nothing fun about this station since 2017. And Adele and Nickelback isn't going to fix that.
Edit:
Ride Wit Me by Nelly followed by In The Air Tonight?
Lose Yourself by Eminem followed by Tiny Dancer?
This is the kind of crap WDVD was pulling when their ratings were at an all time low.

Re: WOMC feels threatened by WNIC
I'm not a big fan of WOMC's current sound.
I think their processing sounds like mush (the HD feed sounds worse than the analog feed), their imaging voice sounds small market, and there are not enough R&B artists from the 70s / 80s in the playlist. 80s & 90s pop-rock is overrepresented.
The jingle package never sounded particularly good because of horrible sound mixing. I wish they'd change to a new package or remaster the current one using someone competent.

Also, they need to be playing all the classics from the early to mid 90s.
1990 is now 35 years old.
Where's "Finally" by CeCe Peniston, "I'm Too Sexy" by Right Said Fred, or "Fields of Gold" by Sting?

I don't always agree with you on music, but I certainly do this time. There are a lot of good 90's hits that have basically been shelved.stopnswop2 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 12, 2025 7:25 pm Also, they need to be playing all the classics from the early to mid 90s.

Re: WOMC feels threatened by WNIC
While today's version of classic hits isn't my thing, prefer 60s/70s (maybe 80s track here & there), I don't hear anything musically overtly wrong with the mix 1/13/25 11:45am

The VO/prod is lame. More AC/HAC than "classic hits"
WCBS-FM with Earl Mann.. that imaging kicks ass!

Remember "Don't Wanna Fall In Love" by Jane Child?Colonel Flagg wrote: ↑Mon Jan 13, 2025 7:52 amI don't always agree with you on music, but I certainly do this time. Where the heck did that one go.
Or "I'm Your Baby Tonight" by Whitney Houston.
One that's funny is "I've Been Thinking about You" by Londonbeat. They use that in imaging sometimes but don't play it.
However they have finally been playing "To Be With You" by Mr. Big. It was a number 1 hit in 91.
That's a step in the right direction.

They switched to the current VO guy in 2016 around the same time they changed to this lame station logo. He is so awful.
Who was the guy they had before that? He could read food labels and still make it sound exciting.

They've not been using the current V/O artist nearly that long. Joe Cipriano, whose voice is instantly recognizable, was used until a couple years ago. Cipriano was used for maybe 3 years. The name of the gentleman who preceded him, who I thought was very good, is unknown to me. About a decade ago, Jeff Davis of 89 WLS fame was used.

Re: WOMC feels threatened by WNIC
The production is terrible, in my opinion. The canned “WOMC is my favorite station, etc” recorded by “fans” is lame - kind of what WMGC did near the end of its run. Seven minutes of spots at the end of the hour, useless chatter from Beau (who used to be fantastic, but isn’t used well here)…even the jingles are weak.
I could tolerate (or even enjoy) the same playlists if we had jocks that could be interesting, jingles that were fun, and not loads of commercials. Ted Richards, Dave Fuller, JJ Walker, even JT - talent from the old days.
And why can’t they balance the sound when Aricka is talking? I can barely hear her sometimes over the music.
All about saving money for Audacy…but then they still get ratings, so who am I to question?

Re: WOMC feels thr atened by WNIC
I sat down on an old computer today to get some old photos off it and I found a random audio file called untitled2. Happens to be 2 hours of Dave Fuller's show from 2014.
Wow now THIS sounds like a radio station.
I'll make a scoped aircheck

Damn. This is like a better version of Doug. I need to listen to them again.stopnswop2 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 08, 2025 9:36 pmI always thought post-2010 WNIC had terrible imaging and bizarre segues too weird for even my personal playlist standards (The Marcels' Blue Moon followed by Bedrock by Young Money).

They/them, non-binary and proud.

The right needs to stop worry about what’s between people’s legs. Instead, they should focus on what’s between their ears.
Audacity sucks.

WOMC has no idea. Threatened? WNIC used to beat me up and take my lunch money!

The station definitely sounded better back then.
