The logo looks, and works, its best if both channels are clearly given equal footing, as viewers always knew the channel as "9 & 10" since the 1960s. The new logo will have folks wondering if they should call them "channel 9" or "channel 10" from now on, as it's no longer clear that they are "9 & 10".

Did you ever consider that 9&10 wants to depart from the CBS brand?
I suppose that's not too far fetched, given "Local 32" instead of "Fox 32"
But there is no way it would survive as an independent. Can't ride on high rating newscasts without high rated network programming to back it up in a small market.

I didn't suggest dropping CBS programming, just not be married to it in the logo...
UP North Live has been a H*** success (in terms of SEO and usage) for 7&4.

Only "problem" with that one... they (we) don't use tape anymore LOL
I agree. The old logos, probably any of them, would be significantly better than this new one.
Tape? I recall 9&10 using slides well into the '80s, as we did at WFRV/WJMN-TV.
Since the blocky 9&10 logo from the '80s went away, their logos have gotten progressively worse. The latest one is something of a visual cipher. In Marketing 101 we learned not to confuse the audience with our message. 'Nuff said.
Is 9&10 really distancing itself from CBS like how they say Local 32 rather than Fox 32?
Woe to you, oh earth and sea

Let him who hath understanding reckon the number of the beast
For it is a human number
Its number is six hundred and sixty-six
A giant comma with a 10 on its side... sounds like Bill Froelich last marriage when he married that beauty queen so she could run for Mrs. Michigan....

Nope. They haven't incorporated The Eye into their logo since the 1970s, starting with this one:
And if they were, why would they use roughly the same blue, gold, and white as CBS O&O stations?
But it's just not the logo, but their website has no CBS logo anywhere and there is no indication on the main page that they are a CBS affiliate. You have to go all the way down to the bottom of the page and click About. On that page it says they are a CBS affiliate but thats about it.

Pretty sure the reason I got away from doing creative full-time is because I have too much common sense to jive with the marketing types.
Maybe it's still a little too "upmarket," but I also see no reason why super small-market stations *need* to have logos that look like glorified clip-art.
I just saw the new logo for the first time (watching online, of course).
It does not work for me. Your rendering is much better!
