Saying goodbye to the Kelly Clarkson show

Unread post by 80sTalkRadioFan »

I will miss the "Kelly Clarkson Show" when it ends this September. Even though it was her decision to end it, to spend more time with her young children. Aside from her being alluring and beautiful, I always tuned in at least for the opening song, which was often a song not played on the radio. She chose from a variety of artists and musical styles. She also seemed to really enjoy interviewing guests, whether they were famous or not. Curious to see what WXYZ 7 replaces her show with this fall. It won't be anything else from NBC Universal syndication, as they are shutting down that division this September as well.

That whole genre just continues to die off. Steve Wilkos which was a long time warhorse ended last year and now Kelly's winding it down even though her show was a hit.

They probably replace it with either infomercials, more news or another local talk show done by news people. Stations have nothing else anymore and the networks sure as hell don't want more time back from the affiliates.

Wilkos had a nice long run. He took Jerry Springer's format and made it his own. There will probably always be a market for that kind of show. I would imagine Kelly's show may have been more costly to produce, since she hired her band to perform regularly on it.

Wilkos, Maury, Springer and the other trash talk shows have always been guilty pleasures of mine. I hope a streamer brings Wilkos back, maybe Nosey since that's where the reruns are.

Kind of sad to see syndication slowly dying out, but that was to be expected in the age of streaming.

Wilkos got boring after the first couple of seasons when he stopped throwing chairs and yelling at lowlifes. It was a guilty please of mine too.

As long as that stupid asshole with the stupid mustache Geraldo fucking Rivera doesn't do a show, I'm happy...even though I'm never home to watch daytime TV. Fuck that asshole.

WXYZ will be replacing Kelly Clarkson with Jennifer Hudson at 3PM saw promo on other media forums when JHud visited the WXYZ studio a few weeks ago.

I wonder what WWMT will replace Kelly Clarkson Show if they go with news or get a talker Tamron Hall, or Jennifer Hudson one of them from Nexstar are on CW-WMI Sinclair did air Tamron Hall on CW7/ARC-WMI before moving to CW-WMI. WOOD TV takes one of them for replacing Sherri at 2PM.

Not a bad replacement for WXYZ as Jennifer Hudson is also a well-known singer, though I don't know if she sings much on her show, other than her Happiness theme song. For the last few years, Hudson was on WDIV Local 4 Detroit at the same time as Clarkson on WXYZ.
