Woman on WWJ who Says Axe

Unread post by CGod »

Who is the woman announcer in the afternoon who continuously uses the word axe instead of ask? Shouldn't an adult professional be able to pronounce that word correctly? Doesn't management care? Man that bugs me.

Actually "axe" as a pronunciation predates "ask" by several centuries. Its use goes back 1000 years.

It's Tracy McCaskill. Not only does she have poor pronunciation, she has a voice made for silent films.

McCaskill’s squeaky voice is the real problem.

I suspect that the people hung up over "axe" are the same people who use "could of", "would of", and/or "should of" when banging out Facebook comments.

I knew this would happen some day. Now everybody is going to accept this in their speech.
I'd have to think about using "Axe" now in my speech. They didn't teach us that way and I never heard it that way decades ago.

Be serious. The people who acknowledge that axe is an incorrect pronunciation of the word “ask,” most likely prefer to use proper grammar.
