Removing my original post about this and posting here as I overlooked this thread. Z93 posted a retraction/apology yesterday to a local attorney for a comment they made on Facebook several days ago.

Retraction: The 3/13/26 post that "it's been brought to our attention that you've been removed from several TAGS games for screaming at children" is hereby retracted. Although the post was not a statement of fact that such events actually occurred, the author, who is not a member of Z93's management and posted during non-working hours, showed poor judgment in making the post. For that, we apologize to H. Douglas Shepherd IV.

I can't help but wonder if the two events are related.

I don't know, Z93 hardly gets noticed. Even the social media has pretty low engagement.

If both were exited pretty recently, this may be the further cost cutting move rather than a "cause" situation.

It should be noted that Denture Dave Gathier runs the shitshow "Overhead in Traverse City" where he frequently posts Trump/MAGA propaganda. I find it interesting that there is plenty of chatter about this alleged social media post without any moderation.

If you didn't see the writing on the wall, look back at the posts on their Facebook page. He used their page as a platform to draw daily attention to his own page. Nearly every post of content that he created was posted on his profile page and shared to their page. He was planning an exit a long time ago and building his profile for that. There is no or rarely any station page out there that would have allowed shared content like that, but I would assume no one from the higherups was paying attention.

Broadway is a good dude. The Facebook stuff got them attention, we could argue the "all press/ attention is good press/ attention" all day long, but I'm not sure that's true anymore. I would say the result was a page with much higher engagement than it had though. I think Z93 is a stronger brand at the moment he left compared to when he was hired, so there's something to be said about that. He and LC were a good team, I was hoping the two would last a bit longer because I think they had the edge on KHQ in term of mornings when those two were together. I've been slightly out of the loop for a bit, wasn't there a change in the market ratings years ago? I'm curious how that 2.7 compares to what it was pulling in 10 years ago. Either way, it's up a full point from spring of last year and overall the station sounds way better than it did 10 years ago.

Also, I would not be at all surprised if he ends up in the PD chair at Black Diamond given is background in country radio. In fact (total speculation), that seems to be the more stable long term gig in NMI radio and I wouldn't be surprised if there were some talks behind the scenes with them. They'd be silly not to snatch him up.
