Reese Rickards has Passed

Unread post by jesusjenny »

Longtime B-93 Morning Host Reese Rickards has past away according to social media posts. Quite a Legacy and a 30 year partnership of "Neal and Reese" much of which was spent at WBCT in Grand Rapids and was consistently a #1 show for many years.

I never had the pleasure of meeting Reese, but I've read his posts on the buzzboard for many years. Definitely was a large part of the Grand Rapids market for many years. May he RIP.

I wonder when B93 will air a tribute? Is this something stations have ready to go for the next day?

"I wonder when B93 will air a tribute? Is this something stations have ready to go for the next day?" Maybe at best. If any other current talent worked with him--and I think there are a couple--they will probably say something. I dont remember if he and Neil left on good terms or not. That might really be the reason for or not talking about it.

And TV stations usually have tributes for their long time anchors, people, etc. Radio not as much. Who would comb through the hours of audio to do it?

Reese Rickards was a dominant force in West Michigan radio for decades. His presence wasn't just felt in Grand Rapids - his voice carried miles beyond it. He had a way of filling the airways with energy, personality, and heart. Reese wasn't just someone you listened to; he became part of your daily rhythm. He will be deeply missed.

RIP Reese. I always admired him for not posting anonymously on this forum. He was who he was and he said what he said. I have the same admiration for Craig Russell.

RIP Reese. I trust you and Trophyhead are having great laughs reminiscing together in Heaven's Newsroom. And deciding who fixes the next pot of coffee.

Regarding tributes, WOOD Radio morning news had Neal Dionne as a phone-in guest yesterday. That's now available as a podcast, with a generated transcript:https://www.iheart.com/podcast/960-west ... e&pr=false

Crosstown rival Townsquare also posted kind thoughts: https://mix957gr.com/west-michigan-lege ... ards-dies/
