Guy Gordon fired by WJR-AM after accepting pay cut, refusing to move to afternoons...

I always perceived Guy Gordon as a straight shooter - someone I could watch and listen to without getting heartburn. That said, I have found WJR pretty un-listenable in recent years. Now I endure the Ticket ................ in spite of the occasional heartburn.

The morning show ratings must suck.

Guy claims he would have "probably" accepted the pay cut had he been allowed to remain in mornings. He must like waking up super early!

Guess he didn't want work to interfere with afternoon tee times or something of the sort?

Didn't he work the 3p to 5p shift prior to being promoted to mornings?

I wonder if this means the beaty eyed midget (Paul W. Smith, not Albom) will be returning to early mornings?

Are there any actual frequent listeners of WJR any more? I tune in every-so-often, just to get my kicks from the callers on Renwick's afternoon show, since it's a great source of humor listening to all the tRump knob-slobbing happening. :hat

There's no chance Paul W returns to mornings. None.

Hell, Paul W is hardly there physically or mentally any longer anyway! And when he is, it's just an extended infomercial for whomever he's interviewing. :hat

How about a more entertainment-based morning show? Jim Harper? Drew Lane?

I'm guessing Chris will shift to mornings in view of the above info.

Cumulus perhaps will plug one of its syndicated talkers into the 2p to 4p slot?

Only an idiot would work for Cumulus at this point. I don't think Drew, or Harper need the money that badly

I do admire how Guy stuck up for Chris Renwick. Most radio people I know are only out for themselves

I'd be OK with a new morning show along the lines of The Morning After on Z93 in Saginaw! :rollin

Radio Insight is saying that Lloyd Jackson and Jamie Edmonds are staying in the slot, so will it be just them or will they move Renwick to mornings?

Kind of a shame to see Guy go, but WJR just isn't the station it was years ago. Guy seems to have had a great career if this is the end of it for him.

He’s gotta be pushing 70 by now right?

So any TV is probably out of the question. That also means he was in his mid 20’s when he started at Channel 7. Not bad.

Isn't WWJ looking for a morning anchor?
