WFNT FM Adrian

Sounds like another new smile FM drone on the air in Adrian MI at 88.7fm. Apparently 500w from sand Creek hwy and us223.

For anyone who might care, it's making a real mess of 88.7 here in Western Monroe county, about 15mi East of Adrian. CIMX puts an appreciable signal out to about the eastern edge of Adrian as is. Probably wouldn't have been my first frequency choice...

I never listen to CIMX myself so I just noticed it today driving down US23 between Milan and Petersburg.

Unless by some amazing feat the signal reaches Ontario, this is perfectly legal. I doubt Pure Bro-Country 89 has many listeners in Lenawee County anyway.

You're right - I doubt there are any regular listeners in the county. If this new station gets any devout listeners, surely they will be exposed to CIMX for several days on end during Tr events LOL

Come to think of it, there probably aren't many radio listeners in the county to begin with. It's a weird market. WLEN is a great listen, and a good example of radio in my opinion, if you're ever in the area.

Downtown Adrian is a lot like Downtown Ann Arbor - you can rarely hit 'seek' and find a station other than Q95 country, or WLEN 103.9. Outside the city, the detroit, toledo and lansing markets are all pretty reasonably had.

my first and best guess would be that it has something to do with money.

you can usually hear it on one of my web hosted tuners - one on globaltuners.com, and the other on the airspy network (if you're into that sort of thing)

occasionally I have the big aluminum mess pointed in a different direction, but WLEN is usually still there.

I started listening to WLEN when I lived in Saline and still listen now that I live in Whitmore Lake, when WRSR and the Oakland County Smile drone don't interfere that is. They still sound today much like they did in the late '90s - they even have the same jingles. It's like they're frozen in time, a throwback to full service radio the way it used to be, and they're really a breath of fresh air. Especially on Fridays when they play oldies.
This year they celebrate their 60th anniversary. The technology has changed a lot since 1965, but I would wager the central programming philosophies haven't.
I'd love them to stream too, but I'd be happy if they just added a Now Playing widget on their website. Some of the songs they play are so obscure (probably local or indie artists) that even Shazam can't identify them.

WLEN is one of my favorite stations as well. I wish it came in well in Toledo.
