Trump voters, talk to me about the logistics of the mass deportation
You all voted for Donald Trump whose signature issue is getting rid of illegal immigrants. Have you put any thought into what that looks like? Here are some questions to help prompt a response:
1. Do you realistically believe it is possible to locate and deport ALL people in this country illegally?
2. Do you think that some illegal immigrants who are working and contributing to society should be given a pathway to citizenship?
3. What happens if an illegal immigrant tries to evade capture - is it ok for law enforcement to shoot to kill?
4. What if illegal immigrants are rounded up and put in prison or camps until they can be deported?
5. Are you ok if illegal immigrant families are ripped apart?
BONUS: There's talk that Trump wants to severely limit legal immigration - are you ok with that?

Obviously I am not in the sought after demographic. But I asked a MAGA friend of mine how he believed this would be done. He claimed they would start with the gangs, then go after the criminals and then go after the rest. He also claimed that it wouldn’t be door to door looking for them and that they could come back in legally and that’s all MAGA wants. He severely resisted my efforts to explain to him that the folks around Trump don’t want anyone coming back legally. I kept getting told I’m overreacting while I’m quoting Trump to him. The same went for the military policing the streets and helping with deportations. That in his world is only if the states ask for it. He resisted my attempts to explain that Trump wants to unilaterally send the troops in. There is a sense of denial I get talking to these people. So there’s a second hand answer for you.Matt wrote: ↑Fri Nov 08, 2024 10:46 pm You all voted for Donald Trump whose signature issue is getting rid of illegal immigrants. What kind of gangs and how do they identify them? Snapping fingers?. Is it like the Jets and the Sharks? When you’re a Jet you’re a Jet all the way, from your first cigarette to your last dyin’ day.Rate This wrote: ↑Fri Nov 08, 2024 11:18 pmObviously I am not in the sought after demographic. Re: Trump voters, talk to me about the logistics of the mass deportation
Not really my job as a voter to figure out the logistics of a government policy.
That said, my answers to your questions are:
1 - No
2 - Hell no
3 - Absolutely not
4 - I will simply say they should be housed in humane conditions.
5 - If there's children involved then this is something that needs to be considered.
B - Depends on what "severely limit" means. Seems that would be largely unnecessary if we can get a handle on the illegal immigration problem.

English translation… get them out now and you’ll gladly pay the difference. No chance for staying if they are contributing because those contributions are trivial.bmw wrote: ↑Sat Nov 09, 2024 2:08 am Not really my job as a voter to figure out the logistics of a government policy.

Boy are you all in for a rude awakening.
Oh and I’ll have whatever you guys are smoking as far as rounding 11 million people up and everything being sunshine and rainbows afterwords. Mighty strong stuff you got there.

Re: Trump voters, talk to me about the logistics of the mass deportation
I voted for Harris, as you all know. While I do not support a path to citizenship for those here illegally, I do support a path to legal residency status.
Trump is too stupid to know what "reciprocal" means.
Re: Trump voters, talk to me about the logistics of the mass deportation
My thing is clearly there is no way to stop the flow entirely. There won’t be any “closing” the border. It’s too long and there are simply too many logistical challenges to do that. So with that as a given you would think there would be more effort to encouraging the people coming at us to not just walk across somewhere random but show up at an Ellis Island type facility so at least we have some idea what’s happening.MWmetalhead wrote: ↑Sat Nov 09, 2024 8:11 am I voted for Harris, as you all know. One of the other things that isn’t discussed almost at all but deserves attention… the majority of folks here illegally didn’t sneak in… they overstayed a visa. I would think in that case there are gonna be some professional folks in that category. Engineers etc.

Re: Trump voters, talk to me about the logistics of the mass deportation
Simple. Just load them all on to railroad cattle cars and send them to Mexico. Might take a lot of trains but it can be done.
Re: Trump voters, talk to me about the logistics of the mass deportation
Gonna have to use autoracks. Cattle cars were gone by the end of the 1970’s. Can just drive cars from the plants to the dealer. For the good of the country folks will accept a new car with a few hundred to a few thousand miles on it and any potential cosmetic defects obtained therein.

Then just herd them into box cars. They're only drug dealers, rapists and muderers.

Even better. Don’t bother shutting the doors… they need the fresh air after all.

I appreciate your answers. It seems that you recognize that there are some potential issues with what you voted for. I don't see a clean and easy way to implement this policy while preserving human dignity.bmw wrote: ↑Sat Nov 09, 2024 2:08 am Not really my job as a voter to figure out the logistics of a government policy.

Re: Trump voters, talk to me about the logistics of the mass deportation
I think it would be painful for everyone in the country directly or indirectly involved. The economic and social repercussions and quite frankly shocks would take far longer to iron out and get passed than the Republicans would have before they stand for re-election. This is one of those be careful what you which for things that would easily get them tossed out in 2026 and maybe not see power again for a good long time. They really have two years at most to get as much of their agenda through as possible and will need to herd cats in the house and modify the filibuster in the senate. Otherwise it’ll be a mess. They have never proved they can actually govern and so far can do nothing but make noise while the country burns.Matt wrote: ↑Sat Nov 09, 2024 1:54 pmI appreciate your answers. Sure people support it now but the vast majority aren’t dialed in to the ins and outs of what the consequences would be before Beemer comes on here and tells me 60 or 70% support it.
