WDIV, Jeopardy and MeTV. Still can't get it right.

So, yet again, WDIV shunts Wheel and Jeopardy over to 4.3 MeTV, to accommodate special (election night) programming on the main 4.1 channel. And yet again, like every other time, they manage to f*ck it up.
This happens every.single.time. they do this.
A few minutes of Jeopardy, then M-A-S-H, then a six-minute promo set, then a few seconds of Jeopardy, then back to the MeTV feed, never to rejoin Jeopardy.
This really is not hard to get right, and yet their Hub manages to mess it up.

I thought there would be a bonus round of this fun at 6:30pm Sunday for the usual Local 4 Lions Sunday night pregame show but it looks like NASCAR runs from 3-7.

The most bizarre part of that was when someone on M*A*S*H said something very serious, then the feed cut to someone on Jeopardy acting in a very exuberant way about something.

WDIV is being run into the ground. It has amateurs and interns running the place. Spelling mistakes onscreen, people that do not know how to pronounce names roads and places.

Speaking of which… it’s Colthorp. That new bland generic and boring dude got it already. 4 Is having a lot of issues in their presentation these days. The product has declined significantly since all of the buyouts. I would almost put them below 7 in content quality on the production end of it. 7’s presentation is quite a bit better than it used to be. Now if they could only add some urgency.

Friday night. Channel 4 has two subchannels devoted to the goddess of trailer parks and one airing a cornfield football rivalry. Yet another is airing an episode of M.A.S.H. that we've seen only a dozen times.

I saw a fraction of a second of the Double Jeopardy! board on ch. 4.4, followed by a 2 minute repeating loop of station announcements, then back to the cackling goddess.

I was expecting to see the International Silver String Submarine Band cut in because this guy must be channel 4's engineer for tonight:



Fortunately, I live on a ridge that allows me to watch the Lansing and Flint stations.

That's from an old Little Rascals short where the gang forms a band in a (radio?) talent contest whose various cacophonies drive the audio engineer nuts. Brilliant!

Congratulations to the WDIV engineering and traffic departments. TWO half-hour programming segments aired successfully on 4.3, as advertised, without botched breaks and cutaways to the MeTV feed.

Grateful "Wheel" and "Jeopardy" viewers are giddy with delight.

Yeah, I was pleasantly surprised. On Sunday when the Lions pregame was on 4 at 6:30 about 20 of 30 minutes of the NBC News/Collector's Call combo on MeTV looked like this which only happened during the Collector's Call portions.

It’s a small miracle. They subbed in a pretty funny typo for their app alert for the 10pm web newscast… Metroit Detroit is where we live now. Just wanted to bring that name change to everybodys attention.
