Detroit Lions 2024

Unread post by moldyoldie »

I hate to say this, and I know we're talkin' second and third-stringers here in a preseason game, but Hendon Hooker looks lost leading this offense. :?

RB Jake Funk is making a statement.

WR Isaiah Williams looks like he belongs.

(Edit)
Nice late first half comeback by Hooker and the offense, partially spearheaded by a fumble recovery deep in Steelers territory.

(Edit)
Bates misses from 30.

(Edit)
Fromm looks comfortable in this offense. Hooker looked much better in the second half, but I want to see him use his legs less, much less.

I don't care how strong a leg Bates possesses, he makes me nervous. He doesn't always kick straight and true as Patterson mostly did the last two years. Badgley also made me nervous.

As much as it pains me to say it, I think the Lions are slightly overrated this year. I think they'll make the playoffs and maybe even win the division, but I see a tougher road to getting to the NFC title game than I saw last year.

I don't see them getting to 12-5 this year. My prediction is 11-6 or 10-7.

Agreed. They have a much rougher schedule and a target on their back.
They/them, non-binary and proud.

Sudfeld cut, Hooker is #2. Sudfeld or Fromm to practice squad?

I'll third it.

They need to go outside of organization for backup QB. I am far from impressed with Hooker.

Surprise cuts in my eyes:
TE James Mitchell in favor of Parker Hesse
S C.J. Moore in favor of Loren Strickland

No surprise: WR Isaiah Williams made the cut.

Glad to see DE James Houston also made the cut.

Think Patrick from the Broncos is signing. Could be a great pick up.

I see both TEs we cut, Mitchell and Zylstra, passed through waivers and were re-signed to the practice squad. I thought Mitchell especially would be picked up by somebody.

LS Daly signed with the Bears. LB Summers, who led the team in tackles in the last pre-season game, was signed to the Giants practice squad.

An interesting quote from a pundit in Denver, paraphrasing: "He'll be great till he's injured getting off the plane."

You're going to guarantee 12 wins? They're good, but come on....this is some serious kool aid chugging.

I'll say their floor is 9-8 and ceiling is 13-4. And that 9-8 floor assumes Goff doesn't get hurt.

Remember, I'm not a Lions fan. I see 5-1 in division. That means 7-3 non-division. That is totally doable.

Love is no joke. Plus, I think Minnesota will still be good. I see 4-2/3-3 in the division.

They do have TB on the schedule, so that's a sure win. :razz

5-1 would be phenomenal in division.

They play at Dallas, Houston, and SF, 3 games they will probably be underdogs in.

I'd sign up for a 12 win season in a heartbeat. I'm thinking 10-7.
