A shocking video has gone viral, capturing the moment a wild brawl broke out on a Carnival Cruise ship.
The nearly seven-minute clip shows a group of women hurling chairs across a dining room, throwing punches, and dragging each other to the ground while shouting expletives and threats.
The incident occurred last month on the Carnival Paradise cruise ship during the final night of a five-day journey to Central America. The video was shared on TikTok and has since racked up over 4,000 views.
Nick Richardson, a 43 year old passenger who filmed the chaos and posted it on YouTube and TikTok, said he had just wanted to grab some pizza in the dining hall where the fight broke out. "I just want some pizza! " Richardson can be heard exclaiming in the video amidst the pandemonium, reports the Express US.
Towards the end of the footage, security guards can be seen entering the dining area and attempting to separate the brawling women. However, their efforts proved largely ineffective as the women continued to shout and throw punches.
Even after the women were separated, the video reveals the aftermath of the brawl, with broken plates and furniture strewn across the dining room. "I'm like, 'It's definitely gonna go down.' That's why I got it on video," Richardson told the New York Post.
"Those girls were already set on what they were gonna do. It just got out of hand very, very quickly. And that's how it happens. You're just drinking too much."
Initially, the video captures several women embroiled in a heated verbal spat. The situation quickly escalates into full-blown violence as one woman starts hurling a chair at another group within the ship's dining area, with Richardson providing commentary: "Welcome to the mother------- cruise! ".
The footage then shows the women grappling and yanking each other's hair, eventually throwing each other down onto the floor. At one point, it seems one of the combatants makes a beeline for Richardson, who hastily retreats, keen to steer clear of the melee.
Throughout the fracas, Richardson repeatedly mentions his quest for pizza and even tries to lighten the mood by humorously suggesting, "Let's all get some pizza." When security finally arrives to break up the fight, Richardson remarks, "The last night too, had to ruin it for everybody. Welcome to America."
Richardson's video has since vanished from his TikTok account. The Express reports that a representative for Carnival Cruise Line acknowledged the incident that occurred on June 6, confirming that the ship's "security team intervened in an incident."
Authorities have yet to pinpoint the cause of the brawl. "As is our policy, we will not tolerate such behavior and the guests involved were fined and will not sail on Carnival Cruise Line again," a spokesperson said.
Carnival's website states that passengers "must acknowledge and commit" to its code of conduct, warning that breaches could lead to a $500 fine and potential ejection from the ship.
The melee erupted aboard the Carnival Paradise as it was making its way back to the Port of Tampa in Florida on the final night of a five-day jaunt to Central America.
The Carnival Paradise, a vessel with room for 2,052 guests, typically sets sail from Tampa towards idyllic destinations like the Bahamas or various Central American nations, including Mexico and Honduras, as per details from CruiseMapper.
The Port of Tampa is 423 miles from Niceville.
