WXYZ anchors out?

I have noticed lately when one of the anchors is out for the day at WXYZ nobody fills in from the other newscasts? For example the 5pm today is Brian Abel alone cause Glenda Lewis is out. However at 6pm Dave and Carolyn will both be on the desk. Why don’t one of them help anchor the 5 so Abel isn’t alone? At 4 they all fill in for each-other. Is it a contract thing?
