CPS Fails Yet Again

Absolutely horrible story, and another sickening failure by Child Protective Services. But because it's government, their incompetence and outright criminal handling of this case will be swept under the rug.

Wait, maybe I'm too harsh. MDHHS had this heartfelt and compassionate response:
"The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) was extremely saddened to hear about Ethan Belcher’s death and the department expresses its condolences to his loved ones. MDHHS will continue to work daily with law enforcement, community partners and others on prevention services."

Ugh, completely heartbreaking. I'm generally against capital punishment, but these animals deserve to be severely beaten.

Whatever those "parents" did to that kid, we get to do tenfold. How fucking sick do you have to be? That poor kid.

Translation: The Republican House and Senate in Michigan kept cutting the DHHS budget until caseloads became unrealistic. Why do you think this was one of the first things Whitener is properly funding now that we have a Democratic majority.
Governor Gretchen Whitmer signed Senate Bill 82 and House Bill 4400 on Wednesday which finalizes the $70 billion Fiscal Year (FY) 2022 state budget. The bills allocated $31.7 billion to the Health and Human Services budget — which is around $237 million less than FY 2021.

Steve Angelotti, associate director of Human Services at the Senate Fiscal Agency, says this is mainly a “continuation budget”, which continues to fund currently implemented programs and funds some add-ons of special programs. He says most of the larger health initiatives are “at the margins” and will likely pass this fall as supplemental budget bills, due to their lack of development for the looming Oct. 1 start of FY 2022.
Have you ever known a CPS worker? They just don't have enough time to get the work done.

Big surprise, Dana Nessel is in on the cover up:

“Anytime we lose a person so young it is tragic, and the details of this case are very concerning,” Kimberly Bush, Nessel’s spokesperson, told me.

“The Department of Attorney General is committed to working with the legislature to improve our legal protections for young and elderly residents alike, and if through this investigation more work is deemed necessary, we will not hesitate to advocate for better safeguards.”

Why didn't the Republicans do this years ago? Because they don't care?

Democrats are cleaning up their mess.

What are "Democrats" doing to hold those within CPS responsible for their egregious failure in this case? CPS was involved numerous times with this child, and handed him back to his parents every time. They had numerous opportunities to step in save this kid. Shouldn't Nessel be investigating that instead of "working with the legislature"? But to investigate that would look bad to her party and show a catastrophic failure, so under the rug it goes.

They’ve been in power a month… not exactly “their catastrophic failure”.

Got it, I didn't realize the role of Governor was a figurehead position only, with no power or influence. My bad. In that case, Nessel should really want to investigate this then. Nothing to hide, correct?

Well stated. Unfortunately, the statements released by MDHHS (led by Elizabeth Hertel, wife of Democratic senator Curtis Hertel and hand picked by Gov. Whitmer) and the Attorney General office are attempting to deflect and bury this incident. If Democrats are serious about making our State better, this isn't the way to do it.

Makes perfect sense in your world tc. Increase CPS budget to fix their problems yet defund the police budget to fix theirs.
New York and Chicago were all in with respect to their sanctuary status — until they were hit with the challenge of actually providing sanctuary. In other words, typical liberal hypocrisy.
