Simple, one WAS an attack. The other wasn't.
New York and Chicago were all in with respect to their sanctuary status — until they were hit with the challenge of actually providing sanctuary. In other words, typical liberal hypocrisy.

Gosh, please explain... If the other "wasn't" what was it?

Which of those was the attack?

I guess CNN would call it a mostly peaceful protest. The people at the Capitol were unarmed. No weapons charges have been filed against the over 400 people arrested. Of the over 400 people arrested only two, yes only two, have been charged with a serious crime.

This is political theater on the part of the Democrats, nothing more nothing less. If they get the American people to buy into this Kabuki theater people may pay less attention to the f****** that Joe Biden is.

Do I really have to bust out photos of the various allegedly "mostly peaceful protests" that occurred in the summer of 2020?

As to the events of January 6th, the only thing worthy of a Congressional investigation, IMO, is why there was a total lapse in security that day. The political heat was turned WAY up that day and security should have known days in advance that the grounds surrounding the capitol were going to potentially be a powder keg. That security was unable to prevent people from trespassing on the capitol is inexplicable to me.

Wow, look at all this chaos, just like down at the border that Kamala is in charge of, the same border #45 had under control before the current admin has taken over...

Sorry....but you can't call what happened last summer a mostly peaceful protest (when over 20 people were killed) and then act like the events 6 months later at the capitol were the end of the world. Cry "whataboutism" all you want; the answer to why Republicans don't care about the events of January 6th is precisely because the Democrats didn't care about the events last summer. It was your side that set the precedent.

I mean, you can't make this stuff up: This looks straight out of a Dave Chappelle sketch:

I'm sure that the 140 officers who were injured will be relieved to hear that it wasn't an attack.

Just think, if it actually had been an attack, one of them might have been killed!

And I'm sure the families of the 26 people who were killed last summer in the riots were relieved to hear that the protests were "mostly peaceful."

Again - the left started this precedent.
