There seems to be what sounds like a dead carrier, on 95.1, interfering with CoOL FM. Could it be that 1440 WMKM Inkster has built their shitbag translator?
If I point the antenna in the general direction of Lake St. Clair, the interference seems to lose the battle. Strangely enough, I pulled off Lapeer Rd yesterday, near Dutton, where nearly every tower in the metro comes into view, and CKUE overpowered whatever this is. So, I am not entirely convinced it's the WMKM translator. Anyone else hearing this mess? MW? CK722?

CKUE 95.1 Interference?

Re: CKUE 95.1 Interference?
One of the 95.1 translators is running out of time to build a CP.

We all need to build an extremely directional decent gain tuned FM antenna like this one.

Is THAT where they got the idea for the 486-SX?

If you read that whole link (I'm going to just print it out), there's a WHOLE LOT of information. This antenna is small enough to be doable, and there's even a Home Depot version in the text, where the materials are quite easily available. Maybe the guy who's building Hovermans might give it a try and let us know before we clear out a big work area for the Winter.

Re: CKUE 95.1 Interference?
I didn't notice it yesterday, but today I noticed the interfering signal was particularly strong in the vicinity of the Troy Motor Mall, Maple & Crooks area. CKUE's signal was useless there. By the time I reached 15 Mile & Mound Rd, the interference was still there, but CKUE was the dominant signal, and useable. What could this be?MWmetalhead wrote: ↑Sat Jan 09, 2021 3:33 pm I've been noticing intermittent interference to 95.1 with a dead air carrier at random times for nearly the past two months.

Re: CKUE 95.1 Interference?
Is it completely overpowering CKUE at your location? Where I am, west northwest of you, the dead carrier is in the background, making CKUE sound fuzzy. This has to stop. There is no FCC rule that allows a station to broadcast a dead carrier, even under the guise of "testing"MWmetalhead wrote: ↑Mon Jan 18, 2021 9:56 pm The dead air carrier is present at 95.1 MHz as we speak.

Re: CKUE 95.1 Interference?
I can tell you for a fact that that is not the only dead carrier on the air presently in Michigan. I have been trying to get a hold of one licensee to inform them that they need to ID and put some kind of programming on to run legal, even if it is that cheesy new age stuff in use by three other facilities in Michigan recently.Colonel Flagg wrote: ↑Mon Jan 18, 2021 10:24 pmThis has to stop.
