What is going on at 92.1 The Twister? On the drive home I tuned in only to hear dead air.

Are they in the area that got a ton of rain early this week? I wonder if something got water logged at the TX site.

Yes, we got a ton of rain here. However WUPS was still on. I do believe they share the same building and assume the same towers.

I think online streams are independent of the actual broadcasts over the air.

But the studio address appears to still be 3431 W. Houghton Lake Highway, Prudenville.

The newest site is about 2 miles WSW. In between, they were out at Maple Valley Rd. That tower was once destroyed by an airplane that crashed into it.

The history card also says that the original call letters were WHGR-FM, then WJGG, then WJGS. Don't know if WHGR-FM was ever used after sign on. Never heard of the WJGG callsign before looking at the Hx Card.

WHGR 1290 moved out to the FM site before WOOD bought it to take it off the air. For a while, the AM transmitter caused spurs 1.29 MHz either side of 98.5. WUGN 99.7 was complaining about it (on about 99.79) interfering with their fringe coverage. Proofs of performance for WOOD and subsequent measurements by Khanna and Guill for a WCCW power increase showed that you could have still used 1290 there, one way or another (full 5 kW omni, reduced power, or DA, depending on measurements). If it were applied for again it would have to be the equivalent of 250 watts Night to be Class B.

Looking at the WUPS/WTWS, website, the SL is now 125 W. Houghton Lake Dr. It was sure hard to find though.

I caught them accidentally on 131 just south of Big Rapids yesterday (Wednesday) late afternoon with an ID of "92-1 The Twister" about an hour before the initial post here was made.

The physical SL address appears to be at 125 W. Houghton Lake Dr. However the latest change of address shows a Traverse City Post Office Box.
