He looked up at me and said "we'll see, lot's of things to work out still". Well, surprise, surprise, that place never opened, and the food court is still vacant today.
That quote would seem to be a fitting epithet on his eventual grave stone.
And his current status at WPON. I keep checking my phone for a news update on his big meeting.

Empire Deli was in Northville Square. Got there just after it closed sadly, the closest I came to actually being in one of his establishments.

East Detroit would have been just before the name change to Eastpointe.

What was Birmingham?

I went to Home Run Eatery once in the hope of seeing everyone’s childhood hero. Walked in & there was no sign of life. No Ron, no employees, no customers.

I remember when Ron opened “Empire Deli” in Northville, it was during the economic downturn. The previous owner of a sandwich shop in the same location had been found to be a recent sex offender, causing an almost immediate closure of the shop when word got out, but leaving a “can’t miss” location available for Scoop.
A friend was a food supplier and he said whatever hire was in charge of prepping the Sy Ginsberg corned beef, somehow screwed up the “Corning” process, but R-Sizzle said to “serve it anyways”…
Alas, Empire Deli was here and gone in a flash.

Did any of Ron’s restaurants or bars last a full year?

Not in the many years I’ve been listening. I don’t believe any of them even lasted more than a few months.

Here's a rough summary of what you'll find. These are incorporation dates.

02/12/1986: C.R., INC. (WCAR, LIVONIA)
08/14/1986: S. F. PUBLISHING COMPANY (WARREN) (probably Sports Fan Journal)
06/08/1990: SPORTS FANS CONEY ISLAND, INC. (WALLED LAKE)
01/17/1991: SPORTS FANS EATERY, INC. (DEARBORN)
04/30/1991: CAMERON'S CONEY, INC. (EAST DETROIT)
10/02/2006: CAMERON HOCKEY CLUB LLC (SOUTHFIELD)
09/01/2009: RON CAMERON EMPIRE DELI, LLC (NORTHVILLE)
07/20/2010: SPORTS TALK, LLC (BIRMINGHAM)
I'm sure a different "Ron Cameron," but I like the "Association for Intelligent Information Management," of which a "Ron Cameron" was director.
Yeah, that one was easy to eliminate from the list. :)

It was particularly interesting to see that, in the space of 11 months, he incorporated three different restaurants, in three different cities, in three different counties.

You can't make this stuff up.

If I recall, as well, Scoop in the recent years of prospective talk of opening establishments, had no interest in opening up one that actually serves alcohol. That pesky liquor license and liability throwing a roadblock in front of beer/wine/liquor offerings.

With Ron, the grass is always greener on the other side.

But there are some variations on that theory that might help us understand Ron's unusual career path.

Truer words have never been spoken! Did Sima cave and give in to Ron's demands? Is there a big screen TV being installed inside the room where it happens? Is Ron switching to mornings? If he incorporates a weekday morning show good luck with that! He'll be lucky to get more than 2 calls. This guy changes his mind more than anyone I know. Alex is staying quiet through this all, probably a wise decision.
On a sidenote, I heard a very unbalanced Mr. P call up Caputo on 97.1 last night. I was half listening but something about him getting threatened about something, not sure if anyone else heard that call. I'm sure he'll let Scoop know about it.

Hello Fellow Buzzboard Associates - Rob from Canton here; hopefully I have accurate information to share on Ron's upcoming future schedule on WPON AM 1460 -

This coming weekend no changes; Saturday and Sunday 3 -5 (May 20, 21)
Weekend after next changes to Friday and Sunday 11 -1 (May 26, 28)

In my local the WPON signal is basically useless, so I just stream online.

Thanks, Rob. It looks like Sima didn't cave to Ron's demand for a tv. No possibility of PBP with this schedule.

But maybe Ron is not taking a long range view with WPON

If this schedule sticks into fall, No PBP for lions/Pro football will drive him crazy I would think, did the day change really come down to no TV thus go on Friday?

Though maybe Ron is not taking a long range view with WPON
