Re: Ron Cameron
I was passively listening to the Sunday show when I heard the egregiously wrong information given about the Bob Gibson-Denny McLain video. Hearing the mis-information motivated me to pick up the phone and "set the record straight."

Hopefully Ron doesn't switch to weekday mornings.
Won't be able to listen.. Seems like he would lose people that way..

If memory serves, I think his last operating restaurant was that pizza joint by Wonderland Mall. Knockout Pizza or something like that?edj wrote: ↑Mon May 15, 2023 7:51 am Blast from the past! Was this Ron’s last restaurant?

I'm thinking it might've been at the site of the former yogurt shop on Haggerty, across from Meijer.Dan in Northville wrote: ↑Mon May 15, 2023 9:07 amIf memory serves, I think his last operating restaurant was that pizza joint by Wonderland Mall. Dan's link brings back memories. Ron was on WPON when he had that restaurant. He noted that 'Jewish people only go to restaurants if they have a coupon.' As a West Bloomfield resident, I soon thereafter got a coupon for Ron's eatery. It honestly made no sense. I wish I had the foresight to have kept it. It would've been nice artifact for the restaurant wing of Ron's inevitable Library & Museum.
Re: Ron Cameron
He was talking about having a weekday morning show as well as a weekend show, either Saturday or Sunday. A return to the 9-11 am slot on WPON is going to result in a lot more faux emails, if not a return of the insurance company callers (who've not been heard from since he last had those hours).briangoleb14 wrote: ↑Mon May 15, 2023 6:33 am Hopefully Ron doesn't switch to weekday mornings.

Re: Ron Cameron
Martin is not a reliable interpreter of emails. Maybe wanting to inject his own biases, he read your email as if Kuiper had merely said, "Negro." Ron had no issues with that & that was the end of the discussion.briangoleb14 wrote: ↑Sun May 14, 2023 3:15 pm That was my email on Glen Kuiper using the N word..
Ron clueless of course...
Re: Ron Cameron
Ron's last restaurant was Knock Out Pizza on the south side of Plymouth road just east of Merriman. Opened May 2016, closed June 2016.
Re: Ron Cameron
Ok, so that would predate all the Bobbert-posted shows from '17 where Ron's been teasing a "big announcement" for some time. That would be a good question for Ron. When & where was your last restaurant? I doubt he even knows. For all the attendant delay & hoopla surrounding all the restaurants he's opened in the years I've been listening, they all close in short order. With Ron always blaming others. Once, he talked up the great location of one site. After it opened, all he could do was complain about the location. Yes, Ron is the William Henry Harrison of restaurant owners.

Re: Ron Cameron
I'm sure that there's numerous stories of seeing Ron "out in the wild". I remember when Ron was touting the impending opening of his new pizza restaurant place in the food court at Laurel Park Mall in Livonia a few years ago. Now, if you've been to Laurel Park Mall, the food court. and probably half of the mall, is totally vacant. Of course, Ron, being the man of vision that he is, was convinced that opening a pizza carryout in the Mall would be a great success because nobody delivers to all of the office buildings around the mall and he was going to corner that market. I'm sure that he had Hungry Howie's, Jet's Pizza, and the like wondering where he got that idea. Anyway, one day, I was walking in the mall, and as I turned the corner by the vacant food court, there at a table surrounded by three seemingly disinterested teenage boys, was a disheveled Ron Cameron, apparently holding a meeting with his prospective employee group. As I walked past I said "Hi Ron, can't wait for the new restaurant". He looked up at me and said "we'll see, lot's of things to work out still". Well, surprise, surprise, that place never opened, and the food court is still vacant today.
Re: Ron Cameron
That was probably one of the few intelligent decisions he's ever made about restaurants—not opening in that food court. About a year ago, one of his advertisers included a chicken carryout place in that court. I stopped by a couple of times to help support them and Ron. When I was at Laurel Park recently for the big used book sale, I noticed that the chicken place had closed.Dan in Northville wrote: ↑Mon May 15, 2023 11:01 am I'm sure that there's numerous stories of seeing Ron "out in the wild". That quote would seem to be a fitting epithet on his eventual grave stone.Dan in Northville wrote: ↑Mon May 15, 2023 11:01 am

I'm sure a different "Ron Cameron," but I like the "Association for Intelligent Information Management," of which a "Ron Cameron" was director.Bobbert wrote: ↑Mon May 15, 2023 12:20 pm If you want to take a deep dive into Ron's business history, go to https://cofs.lara.state.mi.us/SearchApi/Search/Search and enter "Ron Cameron" in the Search by an Individual Name field.
