My time at FOX 17 and in the news business is almost coming to an end. Saying goodbye is going to be really tough. I found the love of my life in this field, met so many wonderful people, and had so many great experiences. It took me a while to accept that it’s time to move on, but I know it is.
Journalism is a key part of our country’s freedom. I am so grateful to everyone who welcomed me into their homes and shared their stories. I know it’s not easy to open up, especially with a camera there. Thank you for your courage and for trusting me with your stories over the years.
This job has taken me all over the country, from Big Sky Country to Central Illinois, Vehicle City, and, for the past five years, West Michigan. Each stop taught me something new about myself. West Michigan will always have a special place in my heart. I always say I’d choose our Great Lakes over mountains any day. But even more beautiful than a Lake Michigan sunset are the people here. Michiganders are some of the kindest, most genuine people I’ve ever met. That’s why saying goodbye is so hard. You made me feel like family, and I can’t thank you enough for welcoming me as one of your own.
Now I’m looking forward to spending more time with my family. I can’t thank my parents enough for all the support and love they’ve given me during this journey. I’ve missed many milestones, special moments, and the simple days when I just wanted to be with them.
I’ll share where I’m going next in the coming days. I truly wanted this goodbye to be a THANK YOU for all the support and trust you have given me over the decade-plus in news.
