Erica Francis is leaving WJBK (Fox 2) for a morning anchor position at Nexstar's WFLA-TV in Tampa, Florida. Her last day at Fox 2 will be October 2nd. I figured the fanboys would want to know.

Fox 2's loss, dependable hard worker who by all accounts is a pleasure to work with. The fact that she's been covering for Amy Andrews for what seems like years without being given the position makes this an easy decision. The E-Squad is breaking up it seems.

Sorry to see Erica leave. She was pretty much the only bright spot on Fox 2 mornings. No disrespect for Amy Andrews, but with her ongoing medical issues Erica should have been the permanent replacement. She's a top notch anchor destined for bigger things and a larger market. I wish her the best.

I was thinking that's where Shay Ryan went, but she went to Tampa Bay 28, not Tampa Bay 8.

BTW, Shay just retired from TV just a few months ago, if anyone remembers her.

Mental health issues are one of the reasons she took time off. I don't see how being on live TV in front of thousands of people every day helps with those issues.

In this case and it's very unfortunate, Fox 2 couldn't promote Erica Francis to that position. Thus Erica had to go elsewhere to advance her career while Amy is still sidelined with no timetable for her return and a thin bench to cover for her.

For someone as bright as she is, she sure likes to play dumb when bantering with her coworkers when she is anchoring. Erica also makes comments on news stories that make no sense. I don't know if she is trying to play cute or downplay her hight intelligence. Great feature reports, though.
