WOOD=TV suffers MCR Hub tech issues

WOOD-TV is suffering from some serious tech issues. I noticed it early Thursday morning when they were airing Early Today instead of News 8 Daybreak, prompting me to watch via WOTV. The odd programming continued in the afternoon when NBC News Daily was airing instead of News 8 at 4. I wound up contacting the station and got a response. Apparently NexStar is having issues at its master control hub in Indianapolis.

As of 11pm, local programming was still non existent with George Is On The Way instead of News 8 at 11. With a football game airing tonight, a pregame show aired at 7 so I cannot tell if syndicated programming has been airing.

I'm thinking it would not have given that I've not seen any local ads, seeing alot NBC logo slides accompanied by musical interludes instead. One other thing this tech glitch is causing to go missing could be costly if the FCC was feeling in the mood: no top of hour station IDs.

It's now 2am late Thursday/early Friday and I happen to be awake and the MCR glitch appears to still be present. Yet WOTV and WXSP are airing without issue. Serious issue to be going on 24 hours.

Sinclair had a similar issue a few years ago. In that case, they were hacked. Same result as you're describing, with no local programming and many syndicated shows missing. I really noticed it during the morning network news show with 5 minutes of network filler instead of local breaks for news/weather. In Sinclair's case, the issues lasted at least two weeks before they were able to resume normal programming and local ads.

I seem to recall them (WWMT) doing the weather very old school with with a large pad of paper on an easel (think of the 80s game show Win Lose or Draw) during this. They could do programming but had no graphics or B roll but could do commercials.

WOOD's issue got resolved sometime during the day today (Friday)

Glad WOOD/Nexstar is back up. At least it happened in August when not as many people watch network TV. When Sinclair had their issue, it was in late October/early November. Your description of Wood's low/no tech weather forecasting was probably a good flashback for some older folks.

That "hub" (?) in Indianapolis has been a dumpster-fire for like 15-20 years now. I think 317-943-8096 still the unlisted phone # directly to this troubled WISH-TV hub, in case anyone ever wants to call directly and give 'em hell. It's a shame that WOOD TV8 & WOTV Ch. 41 still continue to piggyback onto this out-of-state bunch of clowns.
