Time for a Big Jake Rogers update - his White Sox career is simply humming right along - 27 at bats, 3 hits, 11 strikeouts, with a .111 batting average. The White Sox are so sad behind the plate that Jake plays behind some clown named Drew Romo who's hitting .141 but then again they're probably going to win the division after losing 122 games two years ago so that is impressive.
What's really strange is that .111 is better than the .107 that Dillon Dingler has hit in his last 22 games.

I knew Dingler had slumped but didn't know to that extent. He will be just fine, just the perils of late August/early September. He will win a Silver Slugger and is one of the best catchers in the majors at this point. Going to finish with 30 some homers and 100 some RBI's. We should talk about The Dork Torkelson who six years post #1 overall pick absolutely cannot hit. He will finish with 200 some strikeouts this year.

During the Harbaugh era, Ron was paying a lot of attention, due to the lunches he said Jim Harbaugh owed him. He would have a field day with this time clock issue

Ron would have applied his unique understanding of time to the situation. There was the "two weeks" timeframe in which he was going to schedule a guest or open a new restaurant. And the hour long interviews with Denny McLain that often lasted just 35-40 minutes.
On a more serious, respectful note, Ron seemed to always be in pursuit of "one more second" to reach his many goals.

Similarly, book publishers - dating as far back as to his good friend Bennett Cerf - were known to fall over themselves trying to get their authors on one of Ron's platforms. Because, with the possible exception of Oprah, no one moved books better than Scoop.

I've started listening to a Tigers podcast (Tigers Daily) that's hosted by a guy named Lou Gamelin. He's got an old school style, and avoids the fan boy enthusiasm and nerd stats that you find on other Tiger podcasts.
Today he mentioned that his day job is delivering soft drinks, which somehow reminded me of Ron's unique mixture of sports talk radio and other ways of making money.
I've been listening to "Captain Lou" Gamelin every day. He gets more Cameronesque with each show.
At the beginning of each show, he talks about the response to the podcast being "off the charts," which reminds me of "Sports Fans' Journal—still going strong!"
During many of the shows, he responds to the YouTube comments, bringing back memories of the listener e-mails on Ron's show. Today, he responded to some criticism in a way that would have made Ron proud:
