Computer Help Needed
Computer Help Needed
My laptop crapped out a while ago and I had t get a new one. This one has the newest version of Windows (Windows 11?) Every version of windows is worse than the last. They used to have a thing called "My Computer" Then it became "This PC" Now I don't see it at all. When I insert the SD Card from My camera, how to I view the images or transfer them to the computer?

When the window opens up for the SD card (like shown above) then double click on the DCIM folder. It will open and show you all your photos. Double click on any one of them to view in a larger screen.

Microsoft has actually been hiding the My Computer/This PC icon from the desktop by default ever since Windows XP.
To get it back in Windows 11, you need to go into themes and then desktop icons. Just type the word "themes" in your search box next to the start button and you should be able to find your way from there.

No Windows OS will ever be as bad as Windows Me.
I never had the misfortune of owning a PC with that dreadful operating system, fortunately.
Windows Vista takes second worst honors due to system resource burden and hardware incompatibility issues galore (too few PCs in use at the time met system requirements), and Windows 8 gets the bronze medal in the crappiness competition. I made the mistake of buying a Windows 8 laptop, having done no research on Windows 8 beforehand. I assumed, very wrongly, that it would look & work highly similar to XP. Boy was I wrong! There were still plenty of Windows 7 pre-installed laptops available for purchase at the time, which made my blunder even worse.
The thing is - Windows 8 became quite usable with the assistance of third-party apps to make the UI look & work more like a traditional Windows operating system. "Start8" was one such app. "Classic Shell" was another.
Windows 10 and Windows 11 are both quite good, in my opinion. Windows 7 and Windows XP are tied for my favorite Windows OS.
