Listened yesterday!
I agree that WLLZ definitely changed format. I listened for 40 minutes. Heard Nirvana, Soundgarden, Alice In Chains, Audioslave, and Three Doors Down. This was around 3:30.
WCSX did not change too much. Heard Thin Lizzy, Van Halen, Sammy Hagar, and Guns N Roses. I guess GNR is slight departure, but I didn’t hear much of a difference. That was around 6 PM.

Just looked at WLLZ’s playlist. One really classic, classic rock song (Led Zeppelin, Motley Crue, Aerosmith, etc) an hour. Otherwise 90’s / 2000’s classic rock. Seems to be a hybrid of SXM’s Turbo and Lithium. I like what I’m seeing played.
RELEASE THE EPSTEIN FILES!!!

Time to get rid of the WLLZ call letters and image. Time for 'The D Rocks" on 106.7 D Rock.

Could they be trying to take away listeners from 98.7 as well? 98.7 has played some similar bands heard on 106.7 now.

98.7 seems to have stagnated again. Every once in awhile, you hear Linkin Park, but I hear that fucking Bad Omens and Temper City song every fucking day.
WLLZ has knocked 96.3 off my presets.

I agree that Alt 98.7 is sounding stale.MotorCityRadioFreak wrote: ↑Thu Aug 20, 2026 11:40 pm 98.7 seems to have stagnated again. Every once in awhile, you hear Linkin Park, but I hear that fucking Bad Omens and Temper City song every fucking day.

Linkin Park could stand to be put on the shelf for a while. Them and Foo Fighters.
Linkin Park is just 311 when they stop taking their meds.

Never been a fan of Linkin Park but it fits the genre and they were big. Same with Green Day and Nickelback.

I love Linkin Park and I like the Foo Fighters. Keep playing 'em!
311 only has a few decent songs and they suck in concert.

Now with 89X, Alt 98.7, WRIF, WOMC and WLLZ playing these groups it's what Detroit needs more copycat radio.

The last time we had this many rock & alternative stations on the dial at the same time probably was the late 90s.
89X does sound very different than WRIF and WLLZ these days, though. To me, the current day 89X arguably sounds more like 93.9 The River than the 89X that I remember from its prime (early 2000s to early 2010s).

I think 1995 was the pinnacle of it. 88.7, 94.7, 96.3, 101.1, 102.7 were all flavors of rock. By 1999, after the Edge changed format, only 94.7, 88.7 and 101.1 remained. 106.7 didn't show up until September. But there weren't any more current rock stations.MWmetalhead wrote: ↑Sat Aug 22, 2026 3:06 pm The last time we had this many rock & alternative stations on the dial at the same time probably was the late 90s.

Ah, yes. Alice 106.7. The station with the fun imaging, milquetoast music, and boring DJs.
The final year before the rebrand to the shit box known as The Drive, Alice 106.7 actually turned into a very listenable classic rock station. It played the harder edged classic rock WCSX was unwilling to play at the time.
That progress was thrown summarily out the window when 106.7 became The Drive, which blended the music of early Alice with the music of final year Alice. What a fucking awful radio station that was. It lasted about three years.
