I contacted xfinity, initially by phone, to ask for a billing adjustment, for not providing agreed-to services (all the Scripps feeds, for instance). Had to finally use "something else" option on the phone, they texted me a link to online rep on chat. Rep seemed to not know what I was referring to, had to drop and come back, seemingly after some consultation. Getting $15.45 billing credit, not known if this will be recurring for the duration or if I'll have to jump thru hoops again next billing period. Meanwhile I've got the good old OTA antenna for WXYZ, WMYD and their related subs.

Called them today and after jumping through many hoops I got them to send me and email confirming the credit. Thet also tried to upsell me on my service. I cancelled my TV package and only have wifi and phone now. I switched to Youtube TV. All the channels I watch and $40 a month cheaper.
Kudos on getting a credit. I asked Comcast for a credit a couple of weeks ago. After being put on hold three times while the customer service person consulted with his team, all I was promised was that a credit would be calculated once the dispute was settled and that it would be given to me in a lump sum at that time. I verified before I hung up that I had to continue to pay full price for the stations I can't receive through my cable service. Like imbadboy, I was offered an alternate package. While I can watch those channels by an alternate means, I'm disappointed in the number of times Comcast has removed a channel from its lineup without lowering the monthly cost or charging for an additional subscription to include the stations you want to continue to watch. To be missing ABC channel 7 which is part of their Basic cable package while I'm still paying full price for a higher-level package seems unreasonable and you'd think there could be a way to continue to provide just that station to all of its customers.

Scripps has taken out a billboard on Northbound 75 across from
Chrysler’s headquarters that says more or less “upset about not getting channel 7?” Then below that it says “blame Xfinity”. The image next to it is a random white guy holding a basketball under his arm with a shit eating grin on his face. I imagine it’s a Pistons playoff reference.

What a weird billboard.

Scripps and Comcast deserve each other. They both can go to hell.

Not surprised Comcrap is playing hardball with the idea of lowering bills for lost channels. When I had Suckeye Broadband's TV services and they had disputes with Sinclair and NBC Universal, all I received was a $1 credit on my next bill. Though Suckeye, according to their channel guides, still has all of the Scripps stations/networks. For how much longer, that is anyone's guess.

Just received an email from Xfinity:

Scripps-owned channels are back on Xfinity
We've reached a new agreement with E.W. Scripps Company, and their content is once again available on Xfinity.
We appreciate your patience as we worked on a resolution with Scripps that allows us to continue offering their content at a fair price.
Because you pay a Broadcast TV fee and the Scripps broadcast stations were temporarily unavailable, we've applied a one-time $9.62 "Broadcast Fee" credit to your account — no action needed.
Thanks for being with Xfinity.

I'd like to thank Comcast for standing firm againt Scipps and their obscene rate increase.

One thing I've noticed over the decades of being a loyal customer is that Comcast/Xfinity always has what's best for the customer in mind with every business decision.

I only got $7.91 credit, but maybe you have more Scripps channels than I. (I'm in Battle Creek.)

Different media markets / different stations in play.

Scripps owns the ABC affiliate and an independent station (WMYD) in SE Michigan.

In West Michigan, they own WXMI (FOX).

All it took was 3 missed game 7s in the NBA playoffs to get the two sides to end the standoff. Just the loss of revenue to WXYZ had to be a motivator for Scripps.

Either the Pistons or Cavs will be playing in the Eastern Conference finals. I understand some of those telecasts will be found on ABC. We all know which company owns the ABC affiliate in each city. :)

I'm wondering if it was Scripps or Comcast which capitulated more to the public outrage. :hat. I suppose Comcast/Xfinity subscribers will ultimately find out in their monthly bill.

screw leaking the march madness brackets, I want someone to leak:

1) what was scripps getting before
2) what were they then asking that Comcast refused
3) what did they actually agree upon

THAT would be a great look at who was jerking around who.
