It's gonna take a while for the warm air to work into SE Michigan today. The surface warm front is over Lake Michigan still.

It won't feel good outside until early or mid afternoon on this side of the state.

I'll post detailed model guidance later this morning.

GFS model run from 2AM this morning; first number is projected 5PM temp for Detroit and second number is projected 5PM temp for Grand Rapids:

4/13: 78, 66 (I think the Grand Rapids reading is too low)

4/19, 42, 45 (YUCK! 40s dip as far south as Lexington, KY even! This cool down is expected to be short lived, though.)

Euro model run from 2AM this morning; first number is projected 2PM temp for Detroit and second number is projected 2PM temp for Grand Rapids (5PM data is unavailable for free users at the site I use):

4/12: 63, 68 (warm front will have just cleared Detroit and Grand Rapids)
4/13: 72, 63 (I think the Grand Rapids reading is too low)

Severe weather potential:
Highest probabilities occur Tuesday afternoon & evening across far southern lower Michigan and Friday across a good portion of the lower peninsula.

A lower severe threat exists Monday evening, primarily across western lower Michigan.

DTW and Kalamazoo have both reached at least 80 degrees officially!

I think the general consensus on wind gusts today was wrong. Even NOAA lists predicted gusts to 24mpg. In Novi here I’d guess we have had some in the low 40s….

I agree. I've seen some observations with gusts near 40 mph in SE Michigan.

The Grand Rapids NWS office had a better handle on wind gusts in its zone forecasts than the Pontiac office.

Troy

At Noon, it was only 54 degrees in Troy!

It’ll be interesting to see how it shakes out… Metro’s highest listed reading was 81 at 2pm. Very impressive. The app on my phone called for 77 and cloudy. Had some real blue skies for a bit this afternoon. I was helping a friend move some stuff and it got positively hot.

It's still sunny here, I'm looking at 81 and the winds have calmed down quite a bit. This is what I call a PERFECT day.

Still have some hazy sunshine and windy here in Hillsdale. Temp now is 76 with a high of 82 on my weather station.

The criteria for issuing one is scattered or widespread wind gusts in excess of 45 mph.

I didn't see anywhere within the CWA of the Pontiac NWS that met criteria. They made the right call in not issuing an advisory.

A somewhat better case could be made that a wind advisory should've been issued by the GRR NWS office for a good portion of its county warning area. The airports in Grand Rapids, Muskegon and Holland had top gusts of 52 mph, 48 mph and 48 mph, respectively. A few other sites had top gusts of 45 mph. Still, many observing stations in the GRR CWA failed to meet criteria.
