The Red Wings are being simulcast tonight on FOX 2 and FanDuel Detroit Sports Net, pregame starts at 6pm on FOX 2, 6:30pm on FanDuel. Puck drop is scheduled shortly after 7pm.

Tonight’s home game against the Vegas Golden Knights is the first in a month because of the Olympic schedule, and will be celebrating three events.

First we have Red Wings right winger Patrick Kane, who became the all time US points leader in the NHL on January 29th. He passed Livonia native and NHL great Mike Modano, who is expected to be in attendance at LCA tonight.

Next up is Waterford native Red Wings captain Dylan Larkin, who will be lauded for being a key part of the USA men’s hockey team who just brought home Olympic Gold. Larkin had a couple of goals and led all Olympians in face off performance at the games in Milano Cortina.

And finally, but certainly not the least impressive, is the return of Mickey Redmond to the Red Wings TV broadcast team after neck surgery in January. A local legend both on and off the ice, Redmond is 78 and has been in the booth for 41 years, after his NHL career where he was the first Red Wing to score over 50 goals in a single season. The odds are good we get a bingo-bango tonight.

Ought to be a good one, as the Winged Wheelers are 2-1 since the Olympic break, and I would imagine desperate to avoid the last two seasons crash and burn after the midseason break to miss the playoffs for the 8th and 9th consecutive seasons in a row. Hopes are high for that streak to come to an end this year. Please.

Further thinking, if the Red Wings are not going to get any more payments from Main Street, I wonder if they worked out a pre-bankruptcy agreement to forfeit production equipment to air the remaining games.

Also, I wonder if the Pistons join the NBA RSN if they will eclipse this new network in subscribers if those numbers are ever made public. The NBA has higher media revenue than either the MLB or NHL indicating greater fan interest.

The Red Wings have more viewers locally than the Pistons. One of the local sports columnists wrote an article comparing viewership numbers a couple months back.

Everything being equal, Pistons are the fourth team in the market.

There are significant areas of Michigan (even in the Lower Peninsula) where the Pistons are #5 or lower (behind the Packers, Bears, Cubs, and/or other out of state professional teams)

The equipment used at the venues is all rented/leased.

This does not surprise me either locally or nationally, but second to the NFL the NBA rights are fought over like no other. Obviously ratings aren't everything with advertisers as proven by two cable business networks.

A week away from Tigers opening day, I’m still clueless how, as an Xfinity subscriber, I’m going to have a channel on my TV, not a streaming service or an app…

Same here as a DirecTV subscriber.

While news articles keep telling us that you’ll be fine if you’re a cable or satellite subscriber with a sports package, I have yet to see any announcements of an agreement.

I better not miss any games starting next week

No, it will not. That is a FAST streaming channel that only shows old content.

Spetrum in Kazoo has SportsNet Det on channel 213 it's a blue screen program 6 with Spetrum on bottom since it's off air until next Thur and guessing will take channel 33 once FanDuel Sports Networks shuts down in mid APR in my opinion.
