WZUU drops Alice Cooper's weeknight show
Not surprised; I assumed the show would be cancelled once the current contract term expired. It no longer fit the rest of the station musically.
The station for now appears to be jockless in evenings. It now runs the same active rockish playlist found in the other dayparts. The music is programmed well, for the most part. Reminds me of WGRD in a way but with a wider, more interesting playlist.

Re: WZUU drops Alice Cooper's weeknight show
I completely agree. Alice Cooper did not align with the current direction of the station.
Is The Bob & Tom Show also on the chopping block? Dave & Chuck the Freak would be a better fit for the younger-skewing playlist. Midwest already clears Dave & Chuck in two of their markets (WOZZ in Wausau and KRRO in Sioux Falls).
I think this is less likely, but WZUU could resurrect local programming in morning drive. Midwest is going to launch a local morning show at their Classic Rock station in Knoxville: https://radioinsight.com/headlines/3264 ... s-at-wimz/.

WRKR is now airing Alice's Attic on Sunday nights. Ultimate Classic Rock remains for weeknights.

The ZUU is killing it music wise tonight!
It's amazing how much better the station sounds compared to a year ago.

By the way, for those who were unaware, the imaging liners between songs are read by an A.I. voice.

More changes afoot at WZUU as Scotty Bud announced on Facebook his last show on the station will be Friday, January 2nd. He's teasing an announcement on what's next coming at 5:45 Friday afternoon. He has recently filled in for Ken Lanphear on WKZO, could he be moving down the hall?

Probably; that would be my guess.

After listening to Scotty talk about his departure all week, I tuned into WZUU at 5:45 to learn he is moving to mornings at Cool FM. Todd Overhuel, mid-day host at Cool will be handling afternoons on The ZUU. Definitely didn't see this one coming.

Re: WZUU drops Alice Cooper's weeknight show
That's a surprise. I assumed either Kevin or Mandy (who does her shift remotely from Lansing's Q106, I believe) would be moving to afternoons. It is unusual for a music-based radio station in this day & age to split middays between two personalities, which is why I assumed one of them would be succeeding Scotty in afternoons.
Todd was in the building the last time WZUU played a harder edged playlist; that was a looooong time ago!
They were still broadcasting at 92.3 back then.

Mandy is probably working out of the Battle Creek studio, as I'm quite certain she is Mandy Marshall on WIN 98.5 mornings.
I had forgotten Todd was involved with 92.3 before Scott was hired.

Scotty Bud posted his sign off from WZUU on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/reel/2513251822405569.
In the middle of his comments he stated, “there are going to be some other changes as well inside the radio group you will probably notice.” Let the speculation begin…

Calling it now: Jack will be toast as a result of these changes.

They flip 95.5 to alternate because we don’t need two signals playing the same thing…yeah, yeah, yeah, I know it’s not happening.

No more Bob & Tom on 92.5 once the current contract expires?Michigan Media wrote: ↑Fri Jan 02, 2026 11:14 pm Scotty Bud posted his sign off from WZUU on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/reel/2513251822405569.

Ultra annoying Greg Beharrell added for nights at 92.5?
I could see 106.5 ditching the Jack branding, adding on-air talent and going back to Bright AC. (Musically, they are pretty much there already.)
Finally, I could see some programming changes coming to boomer station WKZO, most likely clearing Sean Hannity's show now that news/talk WKMI is kaput.

I heard this morning on 106.5 that they are starting a local morning show with a guy named Pauly, I believe.
