Not bitching about lack of 60s/70s, but lack of anything different than a 275-song burnt playlist.

i was inseparable from my headphones and the radio from 1982 to about 1995

now music really doesnt do it for me as
1) todays stuff isnt meant for me - and i won't go all "grandpa" about 'kid thesedays'
2) anything from back in the day that i like i have heard a billion times before

After all this amazing music this week, there's no way I am going to accept going back to Alanis Morissette and Journey all day

Hey, I only have six stations that play Journey. I need my seventh!

stations like WCBS-FM still play stuff like Brown Eyed Girl and Sweet Caroline. This is Detroit, throwing on "Ain't Too Proud To Beg" and "Crocodile Rock" once a day can't hurt, right?

I agree stopnswap2. The only oldies I hear any more is at one of my grocery stores.

I miss the era of Dick Purtan, Tom Force, Tom Ryan, Rick Hunter and Don Phillips on WOMC. Good tunes, and great knowledge about what they were playing.

Even Majic 105.7 in Cleveland, hardly the epitome of an "oh wow" station, still plays a handful of '60s tracks. I heard "Daydream Believer" during tropo the other night. Given how rare it is to hear a '60s song that isn't also burnt to a crisp at classic rock stations, I found that interesting.
Of course, now that 580 CKWW is playing much of the same music as WOMC, if you want "real" cruisin' music, you want 1460 WPON... as long as they're not airing some other brokered show.
102.7 Kiss FM was also a decent oldies station back in the '80s when WOMC was still playing AC, with Kevin O'Neill mornings and the syndicated "Back in the '60s" with the late Lee Alan. Then of course there were CKLW-FM's two attempts to replicate the "Big 8" format, and for the real oldies geeks, AM 560 WHND.

Well at least to give a little variety from the 80s and 90s, here are a few suggestions

80s:
REM - Stand
Billy Joel - "You May Be Right" or "A Matter of Trust"
Information Society - What's On Your Mind
John Mellencamp - The Authority Song
The B52's - Roam

90s and 9 block:
Annie Lennox - Walking On Broken Glass
Billy Joel - River of Dreams
Ricky Martin - Livin' La Vida Loca
Go West - King of Wishful Thinking
Chesney Hawkes - The One and Only
Dionne Farris - I Know
Music is my life.

I was gonna come here to post that Roam should be in the 90s block because they play it on 90s on 9 all the time and never 80s on 8. I figured it peaked in 1990 but it looks like the single was from 1989, not 1990, and now I'm even more confused.

"Roam" debuted in late 1989 but cracked the Top 40 in late January of '90 so a case could be made for it either way.

Twice in the last couple of weeks I've heard "Roam" on SiriusXM '80s on 8.

People on here need to pay the $10.99 for streaming apps. Millions of songs out there. If you only like old music, there's so much music that radio doesn't play that you can listen to at any time.

Another song that could go either way is Alannah Myles' "Black Velvet." Its US peak was in 1990, but it had already topped the Canadian charts in the fall of '89.
