Ron Cameron
Re: Ron Cameron
Seeing the Gretzkys in attendance to honor Alex Ovechkin's record-breaking goal brought to mind the surprising alliance between Ron & Janet to curb Wayne's smoking.

Re: Ron Cameron
That story would have also triggered the great GOAT debate about Gretzky and Howe. I can almost hear the conversation between Ron and Keith in my imagination...Momo wrote: ↑Mon Apr 07, 2025 10:19 pm Seeing the Gretzkys in attendance to honor Alex Ovechkin's record-breaking goal brought to mind the surprising alliance between Ron & Janet to curb Wayne's smoking.

Happy Easter I think back to those special Holiday shows!
Re: Ron Cameron
We had a lot of fun with it two years ago, on Ron's last Easter show.radiofan1974 wrote: ↑Sun Apr 20, 2025 10:10 am Happy Easter I think back to those special Holiday shows!

Re: Ron Cameron
When Mark Wilson appeared on Ron's show, he always made sure to tell us that the Pistons had not won a playoff game since 2008. Ron and all his listeners already knew that because of the many times Mark had mentioned it in previous appearances.
With the Pistons' win last night, Mark will have to find a new obsession.

Re: Ron Cameron
After Ron's untimely death, I wonder if Mark had any regrets for sleeping in too late to make an appearance on the last years of Ron's record-breaking reign.Bobbertt wrote: ↑Tue Apr 22, 2025 9:58 am When Mark Wilson appeared on Ron's show, he always made sure to tell us that the Pistons had not won a playoff game since 2008. Cunningham is no Killian Hayes.
Re: Ron Cameron
Ron would have flipped at that article.Momo wrote: ↑Wed Apr 23, 2025 9:14 am Ron was always an unerring judge of talent.

And this commercial confirms Ron's view that Blake Griffin's true calling was in the entertainment world:

Dan Petry just commented on how many school buses are lined up outside Comerica Park for today's game. The team's promotions department must have taken Ron's sage advice.
Re: Ron Cameron
This recent fundraising event, featuring Mickey Lolich, Mickey Stanley, Willie Horton, Jon Warden, Jack Morris, Lance Parrish, Larry Herndon & John Grubb, would've been fertile ground for Ron.
Re: Ron Cameron
Nice video. That interview with Mickey Lolich had a nice "Boys of Summer" feeling to it (the Roger Kahn version, not the Don Henley version). It was cool to hear about Johnny Grubb coming in from West Virginia, where I was born and spent lots of time.
I try to think of Ron in that environment, and the cynical part of my personality tries to take over with all kinds of snarky comments. Like Ron saying, "I walked in and everybody stopped what they were doing to greet me."

And the obligatory, "What are you doing here?!" Followed by a round of hugs.Bobbertt wrote: ↑Fri Apr 25, 2025 12:09 pmNice video. Re: Ron Cameron
Having issues accessing the Board, Rob from Canton, Ron's would-be medical driver, asked me to post this announcement:
Denny's by the airport closed so Big Al Avila has taken his talents to the Cracker Barrel by the airport. He is heading up the day fryer and decorating baked goods.
