February 2025 Ratings
Music is my life.
Re: February 2025 Ratings
Has that always been there or am I just nuts? WRCJ 11th in the beauty pageant numbers? I must have missed them before. That's really great to see. Something off the beaten path.

Re: February 2025 Ratings
I just noticed it in January's ratings and made a comment about how it was funny that WLLZ is being beat by classical music

Re: February 2025 Ratings
I count 10th, even though they were down slightly. Not to mention they're ahead of all of the Urban stations except Mix.
I don't recall them doing that well even during the pandemic when classical formats had sort of a mini boom. I also don't recall the last time, or if ever, a classical station (even WQRS) was that high in the ratings. I'm wondering if listeners are once again seeking a relaxing refuge from the news.

Was it 10th? Oops. Either way a great showing. I mean, what else is out there worth searching out? How many times can people sit through KISS and Motley Crue? Bad news? Jesuscasters? Horrid current mainstream music? I don't blame them one bit. Frankly, it's nice to see classical and jazz making a nice comeback.

Re: February 2025 Ratings
Disinvestment in the station by Beasley has led to deteriorating performance. I don't know if the station has any live talent anymore. The couple on-air personalities I've heard lately are not good and sound voicetracked.
Trump is too stupid to know what "reciprocal" means.
Re: February 2025 Ratings
Considering the station is 10 years old next summer, I'd venture to say the novelty is long gone. It was different, which was great, a chance for my age group to have our own "classic" station. However, unlike Stairway to Heaven, Free Bird and More Than a Feeling, once you heard those same songs a few times, the thrill was gone and it became just another station. Most of us who would listen would just pull those songs up on our phones or make a playlist of our own.
I'd like it if there were more 90s+ hit stations, but like with everything else, it'll just get boiled down to the LCD of 200 songs or so. Not unlike other stations that are playing 40, 50 year old music like it's brand new.

Re: February 2025 Ratings
Here's my out of left field theory (no idea if this makes any actual sense): people that miss the old, true soft rock of the old WNIC -- or miss The Breeze -- are switching to classical.
Maybe that doesn't really make sense because obviously WNIC is doing incredibly well, but I think WNIC's listenership MUST have shifted somewhat. WNIC, if anything, is taking people away from WDVD now.

Re: February 2025 Ratings
WRCJ has only 100,000 weekly listeners. TSL is enormously high.
WNIC has 400,000 more listeners over the course of a full week than ultra bland WDVD. WNIC is #1 in cume by a country mile.
WKQI and WOMC each used to cume near a million for years and years but that is no longer the case. WDVD used to cume near 900,000 but now only cumes around 640,000.
15 years ago, WDVD was my favorite music station. Now, I cannot stand to listen to it for more than 10 minutes.

As an advertising buyer, I'd take TSL over cume anyway. It's much cheaper to go deeper.
283,000,000 Americans didn't vote for Trump.

Re: February 2025 Ratings
I worked part-time at a store that played WOMC in the 2000s, then they went to Muzak which was so refreshing with the wide variety of music. The box said Muzak, but I think the service changed its name a couple of years later. WOMC was still playing Dancing Queen and The Beatles at that point. Do stores still play WOMC? Probably a Hallmark store.
Re: February 2025 Ratings
Beasley Media Group should buy 102.7 WDKL and put The Detroit Praise Network back on it. Do we really need both 93.1 WUFL and K-Love. Praise 102.7 WPRZ FM.

Harbor Freight plays WOMC. I think I heard it in an auto parts store as well.tivoking wrote: ↑Mon Apr 07, 2025 11:14 am I worked part-time at a store that played WOMC in the 2000s, then they went to Muzak which was so refreshing with the wide variety of music. Re: February 2025 Ratings
are these "shares"?
if so , wouldn't the pool of people listening to am/fm radio be down quite a bit in the last 15-20 years?
