President Trump on Wednesday said he would pause his reciprocal tariffs for most countries for the next 90 days, backing down on his policy that had sent markets into a tailspin and threatened to upend global trade. But Mr. Trump said his break did not include China, announcing he would instead raise tariffs on its exports to 125 percent after Beijing announced a new round of retaliation.

Karoline Leavitt, the White House press secretary, said the tariff level would be brought down to a universal 10 percent — a significant reduction for many countries.

You're a fucking hypocrite though. I remember when you said you root for both MSU and UM, but that turned out to be a lie when your true allegiance showed. Then when you commented you would "never vote for Trump", and later admitted you did, proved it again. I'd post that retort, but, whaddaknow, you deleted all your posts.

I'm a proud liberal but will never consider myself a Democrat. Spoke against the Dems multiple times. I just hate idiocy, whether it's Trump, Chuck Shumer, Krist Noem (you got that right), or the next fool to show his/her true colors. I have nothing against your opposing viewpoint, I have a problem with your phonyness and lies. And now you resort to play the victim. Grab you by the pussy.

Volatility ETF’s halted as VIX (seen as Wall Streets ‘fear gauge’) sees biggest drop ever after Trumps tariff pause.
I researched volatility ETFs on Monday. There is no ETF that mirrors VIX on a spot basis. There are a few that trade based on VIX futures contracts of varying tenor (one month and longer). Extremely little invested capital is held within these funds. Of the few I checked, the largest had assets under management of less than $200 million.

I wonder if trading on any inverse ETFs such as SQQQ was halted? SQQQ tracks to 3x the inverse of NASDAQ index performance. SQQQ lost about 35 percent of its value today. On a YTD basis, though, it has appreciated 10 percent.

Interesting. I am actually somewhat surprised at the near no response to the 125% tariffs on China… considering what that is going to do to prices for so many things. I would think some of these “fear gauges” would remain elevated.

125% is insanely damaging no matter what tariffs he drops on some country we barely trade with.

These ETF’s are indeed interesting things. SQQQ does not appear on the Nasdaq halt list for Wednesday. If you have any other symbols for inverse ETF’s I would be happy to check.

Former White House national security adviser H. R. McMaster said he received an accidental phone call from Trump on March 3, multiple sources told CBS News.

Someone from the White House reportedly called McMaster, whose full name is Herbert Raymond McMaster, and told him to hold for the president. However, when Trump reportedly hopped on the phone, immediately going straight into conversation, he seemed to think he was talking to someone named Henry.

"Mr. President, this is H. R. McMaster," McMaster, who was booted from the first Trump administration, responded.

"Why the fuck would I talk to H.R. McMaster?" Trump reportedly asked before criticizing his former aide and concluding the brief call.

Two sources told CBS that Trump had been looking to speak with South Carolina Gov. Henry McMaster (R). It’s unclear who exactly made the call to the other McMaster, whom Trump previously called a "weak and totally ineffective loser" after he critiqued Trump's explosive meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

The news of Trump’s apparently mistaken call to McMaster comes after Trump’s current national security adviser, Mike Waltz, dropped the editor-in-chief of The Atlantic, Jeffrey Goldberg, into a group chat on Signal on March 11 discussing an attack on Houthis in Yemen.

I’m glad he backed off on (most of) the tariffs, but it’s gotta be a pain in the ass trying to make decisions regarding conducting business or investing when we’re constantly dealing with a will-he-or-won’t-he with this tariff stuff. Im sure this theatre will return in 89 days.

Democratic Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer visited the White House on Wednesday with a bipartisan delegation to discuss a laundry list of issues affecting her state, including a recent ice storm, funding for an Air National Guard Base and tariffs.

She left with a new problem: Donald Trump’s praise.

The president caught Whitmer off-guard during remarks in the Oval Office, as she stood in the back of the room while he briefly lauded her.

“We’re honored to have Gretchen Whitmer from Michigan, great state of Michigan, and she’s been, she’s really done an excellent job, very good person,” Trump said.

Whitmer was “surprised” she was brought into the Oval Office “without any notice of the subject matter” while Trump signed executive orders in front of the press, according to a spokesperson for the governor.
