Mikayla has left her employment at Okemos public schools. Word is it was not her choice.TheWayItIs wrote: ↑Thu Dec 21, 2023 1:28 pmsinklair wrote: ↑Wed Dec 20, 2023 11:50 pm They are jumping off the ship and FAST! Morning anchor Mikayla Temple just announced that she was leaving her “dream” job for… you guessed it… a PR job at Okemos public schools. While that’s an interesting enough development what also caught my eye was current and past coworkers posting messages like “FREEEEEE” and congrats for making it to the other side. There is something bad in the water at FOX 47.
I think we need to walk that one back a bit. This was her first job. Her first time in TV. She didn’t even last 3 years. She calls it the “highlight of her career”…it WAS her career.
Also. I’ve followed you on other threads, Sink. You’ve had to have seen similar responses to every other TV news departure. It’s not a 47 thing. It’s an industry thing. The whole thing sucks. It didn’t used to be that way, but it is now.
She’s probably making twice as much to work half has hard with 8 times the benefits with the school system. Good for her.

They never had anything to worry about, even when WSYM had "talent".Jack5o2soco wrote: ↑Fri May 24, 2024 10:32 pmAbsolutely. They have minimal talent left. Word on the street says it was a similar situation to Fox 47. She found out that they were requiring her to perform a certain amount of work and it went downhill from there.mmb5 wrote: ↑Fri Oct 11, 2024 7:11 pmMikayla has left her employment at Okemos public schools. New game for the Fox47 news watchers nightly….take a drink every time Jake the Weather Guy says “for us” or “plentiful” in his forecasts

You’ll be drunk in five minutes. It’s over the top excessive. What a talent

I wonder if Scripps gives up the FOX license where would FOX go to Nexstar/Mission subchannel or Gray's subchannel? I'm not sure Scripps does it I feel like there going to sell the TV stations in my opinion, I think that Scripps is getting out of the TV business in my opinion. The Scripps CEO should be fired can't believe Adam still has a job as the stock price hasn't been doing good for the past few years.

Why would Scripps ever want to disaffiliate WSYM from FOX?
FOX broadcasts Big Ten Football, Big Ten Basketball, and a large number of Lions games.
The only reason Scripps would ever consider willfully disaffiliating from FOX is if it could grab the ABC affiliation from WLAJ. I cannot see that happening.

100%. And with sports being pretty much the only thing keeping network TV afloat, I would dare say FOX is the more valuable network over ABC in Michigan.MWmetalhead wrote: ↑Sun Mar 09, 2025 8:55 pm Why would Scripps ever want to disaffiliate WSYM from FOX?

Broadcast TV stations nearly everywhere have seen a sharp drop in revenue over the past decade.
Lansing has always been a market dominated by channel 6 and channel 10, similar to how channels 11 and 13 have always been the dominant players in Toledo.
Because of goofy FCC market boundary determinations, the Lansing TV market population is undersized compared to what it should truly be. Those goofy boundaries also resulted in Lansing market stations in some cases not being carried on cable systems in communities just 25 or 30 miles from Lansing.
