I have been watching Action News in the morning on the +app and have noticed that the audio quality is very bad.

At first I thought it was a quiet talker, but the more I watch the more i have noticed that the issue is coming back from break.

It is as if the control room is asleep at the wheel and not turning the mics on prior to the start of the new segment to give the mic enough time to pick up the sound and transmit it before broadcast resumes.

Has anyone else noticed this in the morning or evening broadcasts?

You mentioned this before but as a counterpoint…

Between 7 and 4, 4 has a ton more technical goofs, their story selection and coverage decisions are absolutely atrocious since the buyouts.. they have serious issues. 7 had these issues for years after they had a lot of people retire but that’s been largely improved of late. Chalk it up to brain drain I guess.

Matter of fact yesterday 7 took Trumps tariff announcement live in full as they should have. 4 Thought it was gonna be taped and completely missed it. When they did catch up with him mid stream instead of taking it live they said “we’ll monitor this now let’s go to the weather”. That’s inexcusable. They only offered 30 second summaries a couple of times and a 10 second clip of the President after that. No reporter on it, nothing. Not at 6 or 11 either. They were more than happy to talk about the latest cold case as a lead story though and the latest crime du jour in those other newscasts.

Their 6pm on Tuesday featured what was effectively an ad for the latest Karen Drew cold case documentary on their + channel premiering that night as the story with her emphatically explaining “look at this!!!”. This was placed in front of the State of the City address coverage which ended up just being a reporter for two minutes. A preview of a documentary about a cold case nobody is familiar with from 15 or 20 years ago IS NEVER a lead story. EVER. It belongs at the end of that block or maybe in the B block. At 11pm their State of the City coverage was relegated to the beginning of the B block while they talked about a murder or some such thing and it was again a two minute story. There was a 30 second mention with an invitation to scan a QR code and read about it on their website because “it’s too much to summarize here”. Meanwhile 7 had a bunch of reaction from folks who watched the speech, highlights and Simon Shakhet at the Hudson tower live. So for some reason 4 is ceding the big stories to talk about entirely unimportant things instead. It wasn’t that way before.

So even if they are number one in the ratings their product is absolute crap now. And that’s before we talk about the reporters that make silly mistakes and word things bizarrely and make odd statements or the stupid interactive weather map with menus that stay on and cover up the data that is being shown and won’t cooperate half the time. It’s really awful.

So I post an entire thing about the topic at hand and your biggest worry is something I put in my signature back in October? I chose that signature because I rather liked it and thought it fit the subject material perfectly.

As an aside why would someone who chose a signature like that go to a MAGA rally? Since it’s not a bit funny I take it the suggestion was serious at which point it makes no sense.
