Are Ford's Chrysler's and Chevy's built in Canada and Mexico part of this?

It sure looks that way.

I remember reading that they would be. But he keeps changing his mind so that could have changed. He wanted to focus on Japanese, Korean and European makes. Don't forget GM has some built in China.

He's a dumb, incompetent, and traitorous motherfucker who doesn't know what the fuck he's doing. The bad thing is JD Vance is exponentially worse.

Just read that they want to have the automakers certify the U.S. content covered under USMCA and exempt it and then tariff the non-U.S. content of the same vehicle the 25%. That sounds overly complex.

He believes the $100 B will come from the exporting countries. He doesn't understand it will be coming out of the pockets of American car buyers.

Good grief. Parts come from the USA, Canada, Mexico, South Korea, China and I am sure other countries too. No one will be able to afford a new vehicle. I read from two different American companies that their prices will go up four to twelve grand per vehicle. Thank goodness I plan on driving my Jeep till it totally rots under me

He’s an idiot and no doubt this will be damaging in the extreme to many things. I am at 272,000 miles on my 2011 escape and counting for the same reason.

Even with a 25% tariff, manufacturing costs for cars built in Mexico will still be significantly lower than if they were built here in the USA. I assume the same also holds true for vehicles imported from China.

The tariffs obviously will hurt competitivity of imports from Asia, but they will especially hurt competitivity of imports from Canada. Would not surprise me if production of some vehicles produced for the US market in Canada moves to Mexico (and not here).

I believe most Chrysler minivans made for the US market are built in Windsor.

A significant percentage of RAV4 and CR-V vehicles sold in the USA are built in Canada, but that's not the case for all units. Some RAV4s sold in the USA are built in Georgetown, KY or in Japan. Many CR-Vs sold in the USA (does Honda really need to put a stupid hyphen in the name?) are built in Indiana or Ohio. Mine was built in Greensburg, Indiana.

Although that is true it sure sounds like this will affect all the parts so if that’s the case no vehicle will be immune.
