I can just hear Jerry Orbach belting out your excellent version, Bobbert(t)! A wonderful tribute to Ron on the one-year anniversary of his passing.

It's worth noting on this solemn occasion that Killian Hayes is finally back in the NBA, after just signing a 10-day contract with the Nets. Ron's keen eye for talent being recognized.

Coincidentally as I was listening to recordings kept on my computer, Ron's broadcast on the former WLLZ-AM (560) from February 18, 1997 began to play. The unintentional comedy was amazing as Mr. Cameron lost his composure and let forth a stream of insults against the station, the lodging where his intended via telephone interviewee, Joe Falls was staying and the state of Florida. Also included in the broadcast was "Scoop's" crowing about the promising future his imminent move to California held, replete with his mentioning that he would be living in Palm Springs. Given a 28 year hindsight, the irony was astounding.

Thanks. I tried to imagine it being sung at Ron's posthumous induction into the Michigan Sports Hall of Fame by Karen Newman, famous for singing the national anthem at Red Wings games about 25 years ago.

I think that show and the January 4, 2020 remote show sum up Ron perfectly.

My thoughts exactly regarding the February 18, 1997 and January 4, 2020 broadcasts. The juxtaposition between Ron's blaming others for their ineptitude and expecting a bright future in California in 1997 compared to the "cavalcade of incompetence" (my term) in 2020 showed his aptitude for delusion. When I read of a rejected idea for a documentary film regarding Mr. Cameron, my thoughts were that he would make an excellent subject for a doctoral thesis in psychology.

It's funny how, after all this time that has passed since Ron's death, the simplest of things can still make me wonder..."what would Ron have to say about that"? Now we finally have MLB trying out robot umpires during spring traning games. You can be sure the old guy would have never let that one go.

I would gather that since Ron's death, viewership on Buzzer TV has gone down. It's up to us now to find that 1957 color version of What's My Line.

When I heard Dan Dickerson's voice for the first time this year, I immediately thought of Ron. Dickerson could always trigger a loud rant from Ron.

I once tried to rate him on a checklist of childish behavior:

The Academy Awards show is this Sunday, and here is a parody of the 1954 Oscar winner for Best Song.

Three calls to Ron Cameron
Each one seeking to be heard
Made by three avid sports fans
Which one will Ron answer first?

Three calls to Ron Cameron
Cowboy, Kurt, and Mr. P
Holding on to their phones
Hoping, please Ron make it me

Which one will Ron answer first?
Which one will Ron answer first?

Three calls to Ron Cameron
Through the air waves how they flow
Hoping for the chance to
Set the tone for that day's show

Which one will Ron answer first?
Which one will Ron answer first?

Three calls to Ron Cameron
With three unique kinds of voice
Just one call can be first on
Martin makes the final choice

Make it mine
Make it mine
Make it mine

Three calls to Ron Cameron...

I had a very brief chat with Jake Rogers at Spring Training. As tempting as it was, I didn't ask for memories of his number one fan.

Does he still have his Yosemite Sam moustache?

Tim McCormick has been appearing on Channel 2 Sportsworks on Sunday Nights, talking about college basketball.

Every time he appears, I flash back to Ron's stories about how he saved Tim's basketball career by helping Tim rehabilitate his injured knee. That relationship blossomed into a bro-mance that included trips to California to see tapings of The Tonight Show and Family Feud.
