Interesting possible development…
Musk supposedly now has 20 staffers working at the Department of Education with access to the student loan system and with it the personal information of millions of borrowers. I’m included in that… Musk can kiss my ass and fuck off.

Re: Trumpwatch 2.0
I truly do not understand why people aren't concerned about the things the Trump administration is doing, especially when you consider this seems to be following an increasingly extreme trajectory.
However, the fact of the matter is that we all know that republicans/conservatives aren't to be trusted and we know that the fact of the matter is that your choices in the US are basically always going to boil down to Democrat or Republican. The Democrats gave plenty of reason not to trust the Biden administration. The surge in illegal immigration, the mistakes on COVID (Trump made his own, but Biden stayed consistent with much of Trump's issues), and shaming people not interested in LGBT issues being top priority understandably turned people off. The Biden-Harris shuffle on the ticket didn't help and it didn't help that she was (like Trump) unqualified. What people saw as the responsibility for Harris as VP was a fail and Biden's record didn't sprinkle magic dust on her campaign. For these reasons, I can't say the people who voted for Trump were absolute dopes. The Democrats failed to make the case that Harris would be better.
And some of the things Trump is doing, while he is doing them in the most ham-handed way, are things that needed to be done. We needed to reverse the illegals issue and we needed to hold other countries accountable. The LGBT stuff of removing the "T" is silly, but it shouldn't matter one way or another. Frankly, legal documents should reflect genetic sex, and for many reasons, but this isn't something that should even be in the deck as a priority, but whatever. All this stuff of investigating the FBI and Elon having any power is terribly concerning. However, who can I blame when almost half the country supported this mess and the other half failed to put up a better alternative??
We should be upset with the administration and Trump's trajectory toward abuse of power, but can we really blame him when he told us this is what he is and what he will do, but failed to articulate a better alternative? Until we grow up and treat politics as something that is boring and requires mature people at the table offering up well-conceived ideas, this is who we are and the results are 100% what we all deserve.

You can't really blame people for seeing that Biden caused several significant problems and for a lot of those problems, they, understandably, align with their personal values.Rate This wrote: ↑Tue Feb 04, 2025 10:35 pmSquare this for me…Long time lurker wrote: ↑Tue Feb 04, 2025 10:31 pm I truly do not understand why people aren't concerned about the things the Trump administration is doing, especially when you consider this seems to be following an increasingly extreme trajectory.

Let's take immigration for example. A lot of these people who came into the country are criminals. They are responsible for violent crime and smuggling truly dangerous drugs into this country. So if they are going to vote, they're not voting for Biden. They saw Trump is willing to tackle this serious issue. So if they are going to select someone between these two options, they're going to pick someone who is going to do something other than enforce the border bending and spreading for anyone who wants to enter. When the dems are offering nothing better, and you are a dem, sitting around and blaming trump isn't going to make the dem side more palatable. You can't blame the republicans for Biden leaving the backdoor open. Rather than shouting about who trump is, the dems should have enforced a better choice.
I don't get why this is so difficult to understand.

He has access to the ACH System.. the FDIC system and the OPM Federal employee personnel system with no legal right to be there. And he has a bunch of unvetted college students doing the leg work. This is not how you run a government. For god sakes... there is no reason to believe he is somehow trustworthy with all of this access or that the college students are trustworthy either. Oh and we'll start with the Impoundment Control Act... the executive branch cannot cancel the distribution of money congress has approved. That's where this is headed and this USAID thing may already qualify. Musk is no different than you or I rummaging around in there... the only thing is that he has Trumps attention.
