He's 37; if he pans out he'll be traded a la Flaherty at the trade deadline pending the Tigers' rotation strength at the time and whether they're in contention.

💯

I agree completely, Curly. The list of roster changes this off season is likely to be very lame.

Message to Tork? Tigers exploring internal, external options to upgrade first base spot
Shocking headline - I've heard "he plays a good first base."

Nobody wanted Alex Cobb but Scott Harris. He was going to retire otherwise

Nobody wants Akil Baddoo either as he cleared waivers.

Expect this off season to be very frugal.

Akil Baddoo is still young but it’s appearing he’ll be a career fifth outfielder type who bounces up and down between the majors and Triple-A. I wouldn’t rule out a season or two in Japan if a team will pay him.

Speaking of other fringe players, Bligh Madris is getting an invite to Spring Training. If he breaks camp you know things are looking rough. Ricky Vanasco is back too, but Bryan Sammons will be pitching in Japan.

The team needs a first baseman, shortstop, arguably a catcher, and starting pitching. Outfield and bullpen look good if everyone stays healthy. Third base would be nice too but Vierling can hold that down for a while, especially with Jung’s poor fielding.

Hoping that the sports rags are right and Jack Flaherty comes back to the D, Give him a 2-3 year contract as he proved himself this past season

Tigers sign ex-Yankee 2B Gleyber Torres for one year at $15 million. Word is that current Tigers 2B Colt Keith has been working at 1B this winter, perhaps setting up a three-way platoon that includes Torkelson...or that doesn't include Torkelson.
Very interesting. :smokin

I'm glad it's only a 1 year deal, because that's a decent chunk of change for a so-so player.

Colt Keith should be the everyday first baseman, assuming he is adequate defensively. Other possible spot is third base, which he played in the minors.

Torkelson is still young enough where he has a little trade value, especially if he has an option left (does he?)

Malloy is the other player taking grounders at first. He’s a horrendous defender in left, maybe first is more fitting.

Apparently the Tigers are dismissing the possibility of playing Keith at third due to his previous labrum injury.

Tork does have minor league options left; it was even suggested he could start the season in Toledo.

I'd say the above prediction of mine came true - and then some.
