End of an era for sure. Enjoy your retirement Denny, you've definitely earned it.

Re: WRQNs Denny Schaeffer to retire
I've never been a fan but his last act in Toledo at Star 105/RQN over the last decade was impressive after he kind of bombed in Atlanta and was doing some weird webcast/terrestrial hybrid that was airing middays on WCWA at one point.

The rumor is that Jerry Mac ops manager will take over in the morning slot for Denny. Not quite sure how long that will last, Jerry doesn't have the talent that Denny has in his pinky toe.

From how it reads on social media last couple “morning” shows. Could he be making his return to WSPD ? Open slot there now..

I heard it was not Denny's choice. As in "retire or be let go."

Why does he press his lips together so tight when his mouth is closed that his lips are white?

They wouldn't have let Scott go to bring in someone else local. That was part of nationwide cuts by iHeart, who hasn't replaced anyone local they've let go in foreverradioandstreamer wrote: ↑Tue Dec 03, 2024 6:28 pm From how it reads on social media last couple “morning” shows. Man, I hope that's not the case but you're probably right, I'd imagine Denny's salary was a target. There have been sweeping Cumulus layoffs over the last few weeks. Interesting note that they added Cliff Smithers to WXKR middays to replace Stash but it appears Stash is still in the building. I have to wonder if it's not Jerry who takes over WRQN mornings if it's Stash.

Supposedly, Grizzly is in the retirement camp as well and stash would most likely go to Afternoons on WXKR.burytheneedle wrote: ↑Wed Dec 04, 2024 9:15 am Man, I hope that's not the case but you're probably right, I'd imagine Denny's salary was a target. Whiling flipping around this AM, Denny mentioned he’s still doing radio .. more of a mid morning show.
Re: WRQNs Denny Schaeffer to retire
I could see Denny replacing Fred on WSPD when he retires, with a paycut of course. Of course Speedy could just pipe in Gordon Deal at that point and go 100% off the bird.

Cumulus is doing RIFs. Wouldn't be surprised.BASProShop wrote: ↑Tue Dec 03, 2024 8:18 pm I heard it was not Denny's choice. As in "retire or be let go."

Re: WRQNs Denny Schaeffer to retire
I like today's Denny over the Kiss era shock jock Denny. He is very entertaining without the shock value he used to have back in the day,
I wonder if he's a part of the budget cuts that Cumulus is doing, but due to him being the star of the morning show, they're letting him do a goodbye show. I know he says he's moving to a new timeslot somewhere, but couldn't go into details.
I don't see him going to Speedy, even when Fred retires. They'll just run Gordon Deal in full. They already air the first hour of his show before Fred comes on.
