CHSN Coming to West Michigan OTA
CHSN Coming to West Michigan OTA
The new Chicago Sports Network is coming to West Michigan OTA.
The X maybe ??
https://ibb.co/LpPxkQX
On a day where it looks like Bally is dumping every existing MLB contract except Atlanta.
From Evan Drellich:
BREAKING: Diamond says in court it plans to continue broadcasting one — just one — of the remaining teams it has with MLB: the Atlanta Braves.
The 11 other MLB teams (and 9 still under contract) with Diamond will either have to negotiate a new deal w/Diamond — or go elsewhere.

Re: CHSN Coming to West Michigan OTA
This does mean the White Sox, Black Hawks, Bulls, but not the Cubs, who are on Marquee (wondrous stating of the obvious). A simple search showed the early June story that explained the network was coming to pass.
It's not optimal but I will gladly take it, hearkening back to the days of George and Al on a Tigers television network and Pistons games on the "X." Don't recall that I ever got the Red Wings off an antenna.
May have to spruce up my spike, which has served mightily since '09 but took a beating in the Aug '23 tornado across the top of town.

Re: CHSN Coming to West Michigan OTA
Do the Detroit teams have territorial right in Grand Rapids? If so, the games will be blacked out. That will be the case for the Sox in Milwaukee because of the Brewers.
Re: CHSN Coming to West Michigan OTA
It will be interesting to see how the RSN gap is filled. CHSN is filling the spot of NBC Sports Chicago, which ceased operations. Marquee Sports continues and is owned by the owners of the Chicago Cubs. CHSN is to show the Bulls, White Sox, and Blackhawks, which NBC Sports use to have the rights to. I believe the network is owned jointly by those team owners. It is a win for cord cutters; however, it seems unrealistic to believe that the network will have the same sort of resources a NBC Sports Chicago, Bally Detroit, or even the former Fox Sports Detroit had as the revenue coming in from having a home as a cable network is much for lucrative than that of a sub-channel. If this is the way things eventually go for pro sports teams and the unwinding of RSNs, then it would seem ticket prices, merchandise, and other things would need to go up to support these players’ contracts. With all of that said, the more sports we can bring back to OTA, the better it is for the average consumer.
Re: CHSN Coming to West Michigan OTA
How would CHSN be in West Michigan when this is a Detroit Sports Market wouldn't a blackout happen? I know when some Cubs games were still OTA after WGN America stop airing them they were never cleared in West Michigan. I know IN, IL, IA, and maybe parts of WI border of IL only. I get that there are Chi sports fans in West Michigan.
Go Pistons, Let's Go Redwings.
Re: CHSN Coming to West Michigan OTA
WWMT (owned by Sinclair) added CHSN on Monday 11/25 as a new sub-channel 3-4. But indeed the Blackhawks and White Sox are being blacked out, per what I'm finding online.
Further, earlier this evening, and now at 1am, the channel has a blue screen with capital white letters scrolling: CURRENT PROGRAMING NOT AVAILABLE.
Someone in another forum wondered out loud if next day replays will also be blacked out. I don't know, as I haven't checked at the right time yet. The Bulls will be on live, as apparently the NBA isn't as strict in their TV contracts regarding regional exclusivity.
Also, be aware the sub-channel's configuration is only 480i; thus Standard Definition.
Take care! ~~ Statmanmi

All I've been seeing is a shopping channel on 3.4.

Re: CHSN Coming to West Michigan OTA
CHSN is similar in name to HSN, very fittingly.

Trump is too stupid to know what "reciprocal" means.
Re: CHSN Coming to West Michigan OTA
If the games are being blacklisted here WHAT IS THE POINT of having CHSN here.
is cubs still on 1110 and 1210 up north?

Re: CHSN Coming to West Michigan OTA
Yeah, what is the point when the games are blacked out, and why didn't WWMT ever clear Charge, Stadium/The Nest on DT4/5 since those were Sinclair owned diginets and giving Comet to Nexstar along with Charge & The Nest. Which I know that Charge was on WXMI FOX17 DT4 for a couple of years then WOTV took it for DT3 in 2021.

I suspect CHSN is paying Sinclair for the channel space.
