I flew Allegiant once. I honestly felt safer on the plane I parachuted out of, and it didn't have a side door.

So while it’s based in Florida now it was a Michigan company once. They moved in 1999.

I disagree, going PJ is much better.
Really don't think that I will ever have the money to do that, and neither will any of the people that I know. From what I've seen in videos, it looks great, but its not something I would budget for. We took the extended family for a vacation down in FL last october. There were 12 of us and we flew Delta first class. It was about $11k. We looked into a few of the private jet companies and one of the guys told us it would be $60k+. That's not happening lol.

Long time lurker wrote: Tue Nov 19, 2024 3:03 pm Spirit is bad, Frontier is worse. We flew Spirit from Detroit to Vegas and it was the most painful flight I have ever been on. I had the human version of a Chrysler Crown Imperial sitting next to me and his girth was immense. I really do not understand how they didn't make this guy get two tickets. If you are over 400 lbs, it shouldn't even be an option to have a single seat. But he was sweating through his shirt and I got a rash from his gravy soaking into my skin. Flew Spirit down to Orlando on my first flight. It wasn't so bad, just uncomfortable. They seemed to have gotten worse from the early 00's to the present. I had to do an urgent trip to Vegas for business and there weren't any flights back on Delta or American, so I had to do Spirit home. I upgraded to the big front seat, and ngl, that was actually pretty comfortable! The flight attendant guy who was doing most of the speaking was super obnoxious though. He thought he was funny. Oh, and we had to sit on the plane for over an hour before take-off. I had plans for later in the day when I got back, but I couldn't make them because of the wait. We did fly Frontier to Vegas a while back, and it was literally like sitting on lawn chairs for four hours.

Literally the only way to fly in the US is Delta first class. They just jam people together when you fly coach, and the seats keep shrinking while the ass of the average american keeps growing. Its impossible and gross.
I'm partial to Delta One when it's available. It's even better when it's on the corporate credit card! :hat

There is a Spirit Airlines banner in Detroit that reads
“Fly like millions for tens”.

From Detroit? It should have been less than 20k. Try Pontiac next time.

Okay, maybe I went about this in the wrong way! Would you mind giving some guidance on this? I called a few companies, I remember one being prive jets. Advice would be nice, as I would like to take the family down again next year.

I'd start with emptyleg.com. Getting to Florida is a pretty easy booking. I've used 45 North (partly owned by Bob and Don Barnes of Belle Tire and Lume) and this is where they fill deadhead flights.

Same yeah, no thanks.

Paying a little more to fly Delta is way worth it to me.

That’s part of the charm… every passenger blasting their own thing while watching the minutes roll by.

Another fun fact, Spirits IATA code is HK, which stands for Ned Homfeld, founder. He was one of my Son's professors in College.

Who needs a clock radio? They're garbage. When I travel, I always take along a real radio.
